The Barbara Bush Branch Library, located near Remington Ranch at 6817 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379, has kicked off 2026 with a robust calendar of events for all ages throughout January. Residents in the area can look forward to an exciting variety of programs including family-friendly storytimes, craft classes, tech tutorials, and engaging community groups—all designed to educate, entertain, and bring neighbors together.

A Beloved Community Hub Near Remington Ranch

The Barbara Bush Branch Library is part of the Harris County Public Library (HCPL) system and has long served as a cornerstone of learning and literacy in the community. Named in honor of the former First Lady, the library embodies her legacy of promoting education and family literacy. Known for its vibrant programming and welcoming atmosphere, the branch continues to grow as a destination for lifelong learning.

Storytimes, Crafts, and Tech for All Generations

Throughout January 2026, the library is offering a blend of weekly and one-time programs for babies, children, teens, and adults.

Weekly programs include:

  • Senior Game Day – Every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
  • Taller Vivencial (in Spanish) – Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.
  • Computer Basics – Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
  • Stitch Chicks – Fridays at 1:00 p.m.

Highlights from the children’s calendar include:

  • Baby Storytime –Mondays, Jan 5, 12, 26 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Toddler Time – Tuesdays, Jan 6, 13, 20, 27 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Pre-School Storytime – Wednesdays, Jan 7, 14, 21, 28 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Puppet Players Present @ Barbara Bush – Jan 13 & Jan 27 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Wags & Tales – Jan 14 & 28 at 4:30 p.m., where kids can practice reading aloud to therapy dogs

Tweens and teens have plenty to enjoy as well, such as:

  • Crafty Tween Tuesday – Jan 6 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Batik – Jan 8 & 15 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Snack Wars – Jan 12 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Teen Trivia – Jan 29 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Introduction to Songwriting – Jan 28 at 5:00 p.m.

Adults can take part in enriching sessions such as:

  • Tuesday Crafternoons – Held weekly with changing themes like Paper Doily Snowflakes, Seed Bombs, and Reading Bullet Journals
  • Vision Boarding Workshop: Write the Vision – Jan 12 at 1:00 p.m.
  • Microsoft Office Training – Word (Jan 13), Excel (Jan 20), PowerPoint (Jan 27)
  • Evening & Afternoon Book Clubs – Jan 13 and 22 respectively
  • Role Players' Guild – Jan 14 & 28 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Speed Friending – Jan 14 at 6:00 p.m.
  • 3D Printer Orientation – Jan 31 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Bad Art Society – Jan 29 at 4:00 p.m.

Many adult programs require registration, and children’s events require tickets handed out 15 minutes prior to start time.

Special Event: Curriculum Swap

For local homeschooling families or educators, the Curriculum Swap is a must-visit event:

  • Drop-Off Days – Jan 21 & 22
  • Shop Days – Jan 23 & 24

This free swap allows families to exchange unused or gently used curriculum materials with others in the community.

Visit the Friends of the Library Bookstore

The Friends of the Barbara Bush Library Bookstore is open Monday through Saturday with varying hours and offers affordable books for all ages. Proceeds from the store support library programming throughout the year.

Holiday Closures

Please note the library will observe the following holiday closure in January:

  • Closed January 17–19 in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (closing early at 5 p.m. on Jan 16)
