New Starbucks Planned Near West Road and Mason Road in Cypress
Cypress residents may soon have another place to pick up a morning coffee, grab breakfast on the way to school or meet a neighbor for an afternoon catch-up.
A new Starbucks Coffee location is planned for 21910 West Road in Cypress, near the busy intersection of West Road and Mason Road. The proposed coffee shop would occupy a 2,139-square-foot tenant space and include drive-thru service, according to project information filed for the Harris County property.
For families and commuters in this fast-growing part of Cypress, the location could add a familiar and convenient stop along a corridor surrounded by neighborhoods, schools and expanding commercial development.
Construction Planned for Late 2026
The approximately $400,000 project is currently scheduled to begin construction on October 26, 2026, with completion anticipated by January 11, 2027.
Project plans call for the new Starbucks coffee shop to be built inside an existing commercial shell, located just east of the recently opened Texas Roadhouse in Cypress. Work is expected to include interior walls and finishes, beverage and food-service equipment, lighting, heating and air-conditioning systems, and drive-thru equipment. Exterior signage will require a separate permit.
The listed construction schedule suggests the new Starbucks near West Road and Mason Road could take shape during the final months of 2026. However, an official opening date has not been announced, and construction timelines can change as permitting and buildout work progress.
A Familiar Coffee Brand Expands With Cypress
Starbucks began in 1971 as a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, where it originally sold roasted whole-bean coffee, tea and spices. The company has since grown into a global coffeehouse brand with more than 40,000 locations worldwide.
Its popularity has been built partly around consistency and customization. Customers can choose from traditional brewed coffee and espresso drinks, cold brew, iced coffee, matcha, chai, Frappuccino blended beverages and Starbucks Refreshers, along with seasonal drinks that regularly draw attention online. The menu also includes breakfast sandwiches, egg bites, oatmeal, bakery items, lunch selections and snacks.
Starbucks has also made convenience a major part of its customer experience through drive-thru ordering, mobile ordering and its Starbucks Rewards program. Those features have helped make the coffee chain a common stop for commuters, parents managing busy school mornings and people looking for a casual place to work or visit.
Why the West Road Location Matters
The planned store would add another national restaurant brand to the commercial growth taking place around West Road and Mason Road.
For nearby residents, its drive-thru could be particularly useful during morning commutes and weekend errands. The location may also serve customers traveling between surrounding Cypress neighborhoods like Mason Woods, Canyon Lakes West, Marvida, and Miramesa, as well as other businesses developing along the West Road corridor.
At 2,139 square feet, the coffee shop is expected to include an indoor customer area in addition to its drive-thru operations, though final seating arrangements and operating hours have not yet been released.
What Happens Next
Construction is currently expected to continue through early January 2027. After the interior buildout is completed, the location would still need to finish inspections, staffing, training and other preparations before welcoming customers.
