Galiana’s Casa Del Tequila Soft Opens in Towne Lake, Bringing Herrera Family’s Newest Restaurant to Cypress
After months of anticipation, Galiana’s Casa Del Tequila has opened its doors in Towne Lake, marking a new chapter for a restaurant family that has spent two decades building its name in the Cypress area.
The new restaurant at 11231 Greenhouse Road began its soft opening Monday, September 21, with dinner service scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. through Sunday, September 27. Reservations are being accepted online during the soft-opening period.
For local diners who have followed the Herrera family from its earlier restaurant ventures, the opening offers something familiar and something distinctly new. Galiana’s builds on the family’s Mexican restaurant roots while leaning further into Gulf seafood, premium steaks, regional flavors, handmade tortillas and a carefully developed tequila and mezcal program.
The restaurant’s arrival also adds another destination to the growing dining scene around Towne Lake, where residents increasingly have options for everything from casual family dinners to date nights and special celebrations close to home.
A Family Restaurant With a Personal Name
Galiana’s is the latest concept from the Herrera family, whose restaurant history includes Alicia’s Mexican Grille, first opened in 2006, and a broader collection of Grupo Herrera restaurants serving communities including Cypress, Katy and Spring.
This newest restaurant is especially personal. Galiana’s name combines the names of David Herrera’s granddaughters, Gabriella and Aliana, a family connection that dates back to the original Galiana’s Bakery & Café, which opened in Cypress in 2017.
“Galiana’s was inspired by two very special names, Gabriella and Aliana. Seeing them together as we open the doors to this new chapter makes the meaning behind Galiana’s even more special,” the Herrera family wrote.
That family connection carries through the restaurant’s larger concept. Galiana’s describes itself as a place built around gathering, celebrating and sharing a meal, rather than simply another addition to the family’s portfolio.
“Galiana’s was created to be a place where you can gather, celebrate, share a meal, and feel at home,” the family wrote. “Mi casa es tu casa. Welcome to Galiana’s Casa Del Tequila!”
That idea is echoed throughout the restaurant’s beverage program, which describes tequila in Mexican culture as part of meals, celebrations, conversations and time shared with friends and family. The menu says the collection spans tequilas from Los Altos and El Valle, along with mezcal and other agave spirits representing different regions and traditions in Mexico.
What Is on the Galiana’s Casa Del Tequila Menu?
The food menu shows that Galiana’s is not positioning itself simply as a traditional Tex-Mex restaurant.
There are recognizable favorites, including fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, queso and guacamole, but the menu expands from there into seafood, steaks, lamb, octopus, Gulf red snapper and dishes built around tequila-infused sauces and contemporary Mexican flavors.
For the table, diners can choose dishes such as Ribeye Chicharrón Guacamole with crispy ribeye, ancho pepper glaze, sautéed onions, poblanos and jalapeños; Esquites & Bone Marrow with roasted street corn, grilled bone marrow, epazote crema, chile ash and queso fresco; and La Quesadilla Norteña with Oaxaca-Chihuahua cheese, beef fajita, guajillo crema and guacamole.
Seafood plays a particularly prominent role.
The menu includes Ceviche Clásico made with fresh Gulf red snapper, Crab & Shrimp Tostada, Campechana with shrimp, Gulf red snapper, octopus and jumbo lump crab meat, Tuna Tiradito, Pulpo al Carbón and oysters served either raw with chipotle mignonette or Galiana’s style with breadcrumbs, beets and queso fresco.
Among the entrées is David’s Snapper, featuring pan-seared Gulf red snapper with tequila poblano-chipotle cream and jumbo lump crab meat, along with Salmon al Mojo Verde, Risotto Veracruzano, Camarones Volcan and seafood enchiladas.
Steak diners have several options as well, including an 8-ounce 1855 Black Angus filet mignon, a 16-ounce ribeye, carne asada, American Wagyu New York strip and a 1855 Black Angus tomahawk carved tableside. Lamb chops are marinated with achiote and orange juice and served with pineapple relish, mint sauce, roasted potatoes and vegetables.
Fajitas remain part of the menu, but Galiana’s offers several cuts beyond the usual beef and chicken choices. Diners can order 1855 Black Angus beef fajita, filet mignon or ribeye fajitas, with add-ons including shrimp, bacon-wrapped shrimp, jalapeño sausage and lobster tail.
A Tequila Program Designed to Be Part of the Experience
The “Casa Del Tequila” portion of the name is not an afterthought.
Galiana’s beverage menu includes an extensive selection of tequila divided between Los Altos, or Highlands, expressions and El Valle, or Valley, expressions, along with prestige tequilas, mezcal, sotol, agave flights, wine, bourbon, whiskey, Scotch, Cognac and dessert wines.
Several offerings also carry a direct Herrera family connection.
The Casa Reserva Margarita is made with the Herrera family’s private Herradura Double Barrel Reposado Tequila, while the Smoked Pineapple Mezcalita uses the Herrera family’s private Nosotros Mexicano Mezcal. The tequila list also includes a Herrera Family Double Barrel Reposado from Herradura, and the wine list features a Herrera Family Private Label red from Navarra.
Guests interested in exploring tequila can order flights featuring producers such as Don Fulano, El Tequileño, Herradura and Clase Azul. A mezcal flight, Journey Through Oaxaca, offers three expressions from Entre Maguey.
The cocktail menu stretches beyond traditional margaritas, with drinks such as the Paloma del Desierto with grapefruit, rosemary and prickly pear; Beso de Lychee with St. Germain and lychee; Verde Picante Margarita with tomatillo and serrano pepper; and Dulce de Tamarindo with tamarind and chocolate bitters. Nonalcoholic mocktails are available as well.
For the Herrera family, the beverage program ties back to the same theme running through the restaurant: staying at the table a little longer and enjoying the people around it.
A Cypress Opening Years in the Making
Before opening Galiana’s to the public, the Herrera family welcomed longtime supporters for a Friends & Family Night on September 20.
In a message following the event, the family described seeing familiar customers as one of the most meaningful parts of the evening.
“Many of you have been dining with us, celebrating milestones with us, and supporting our restaurants for years. Some of you have been with us since the very beginning,” the Herrera family wrote.
They also connected the opening directly to the communities that have supported their restaurants over the years.
“Every restaurant we open carries a piece of our family, our history, and the community that has helped us grow,” the family wrote.
That history helps explain why the Galiana’s opening carries more significance in Cypress than the arrival of a completely unfamiliar restaurant brand. It represents another stage in a local restaurant story that began with Alicia’s Mexican Grille in 2006 and has grown alongside the communities it serves.
