How Local Seniors Can Stay Connected and Engaged with the Cy-Fair ISD Super Senior Program

September 04 2024

For seniors in the Cy-Fair and Cypress communities, the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (Cy-Fair ISD) Super Senior program offers an invaluable opportunity to stay actively involved, socially connected, and mentally stimulated. This free membership program is available to Cy-Fair ISD residents aged 60 and older, as well as retired Cy-Fair ISD staff. By joining the Super Seniors program, seniors can benefit from a range of activities that promote engagement and well-being—key factors in maintaining a vibrant and fulfilling life.

Why Social Engagement Matters

According to the National Institute on Aging (NIA), social interaction is essential for mitigating feelings of loneliness and social isolation, which can negatively impact both mental and physical health. As people age, they may spend more time alone, which can lead to increased risk of heart disease, depression, and cognitive decline. The NIA emphasizes that staying connected through social activities, enjoyable hobbies, and regular interactions with family and friends is crucial for maintaining overall health. Engaging in community activities is a powerful way to combat loneliness and enhance quality of life.

Super Senior Program Benefits

The Super Senior program provides several valuable benefits that align with the NIA’s recommendations for staying engaged:

  • Free Admission to Athletic Events: Enjoy free entry to regular-season athletic events across a variety of sports, including basketball, football, soccer, and more. Note that this benefit excludes playoff games.

  • Access to Fine Arts Performances: Attend student performances, such as concerts and plays, at district facilities with free admission. Some events, like fundraisers or sold-out shows, may require a ticket.

  • Library Access: Benefit from book check-out privileges at CFISD high school libraries, encouraging a lifelong love of reading and learning.

  • Automotive and Cosmetology Services: Access discounted services from the Automotive Technology and Cosmetology programs, including oil changes, haircuts, and other personal care services.

How to Get Your Super Senior Card

To get a Super Senior Card, visit the Mark Henry Administration Building at 11440 Matzke Rd., Cypress, TX 77429, during business hours: Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Applicants need to bring a photo ID proving CFISD residency.
