Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department Open House Brings Spooky Fun to Katy This October

September 30 2025

With Halloween right around the corner, the Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department is inviting West Memorial families to celebrate the season with a community event full of fun, learning, and a little spooky flair. The annual HCESD 48 Fire Department Open House will take place on Sunday, October 19, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Station 3 (1773 Westgreen Blvd.) and Station 5 (21201 Morton Rd.).

This year’s Open House is designed with kids and families in mind, combining fire safety education with seasonal excitement. Children are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes while enjoying activities and demonstrations that make the day both festive and educational.

Families can look forward to:

  • Fire truck and ambulance tours
  • A Life Flight helicopter landing
  • A kid-friendly Spray House demo
  • Face painting and balloon art
  • A live vehicle extrication demonstration by firefighters

The event is free and open to the public, offering Katy residents a chance to connect with local firefighters, explore emergency vehicles, and learn important safety skills in a welcoming environment.

By adding a Halloween twist, the department hopes to create memories for local children while reinforcing safety lessons that can last a lifetime. It’s a day where fun meets preparedness, and where families can build trust with the first responders who protect their community.

West Memorial residents are encouraged to bring their little ghosts, superheroes, and princesses for a day filled with fun, costumes, and community connection.
