Hans Crawfish Triumphs Over Adversity: A New Beginning at 2920 Roadhouse
Hans Crawfish in Tomball, a favorite spot among crawfish enthusiasts, has recently garnered a lot of attention. Known for its award winning, out-of-the-ordinary crawfish soaked in rich seasonings, Hans Crawfish found itself in a bit of hot water with the Harris County Fire Marshal that led to a forced shutdown.
Owners Hans and Ashley Stevens, known for their hospitable warmth and personable relationship with their patrons, shared their heartache over the sudden closure in a series of Facebook posts. "We have done everything we possibly can to do the right thing and have all the permits and requirements, and we understand the importance of fire code and safety of our customers," they wrote, emphasizing the establishment's intent on prioritizing their customers' safety and complying with the regulations.
The stroke of misfortune came on top of an already challenging crawfish season, with supply issues stemming from extreme weather conditions in Louisiana last year. Despite this setback, the Stevens remained hopeful, trusting that his loyal fan base would step up to support his local business.
But once Hans learned they wouldn't be able to reopen this season, it was a shocking blow. After taking to social media to share the devastating news, Hans and his wife, Ashley, were overwhelmed by an outpouring of community support, helping the small business owners keep their spirit alive.
"We are exploring many avenues to get set up somewhere else for the remainder of the season while we continue to work on the fire code issue for our barn," Hans wrote, also expressing his gratitude for the community's relentless support.
In a surprising turn of events, good news followed. On April 30, Hans Crawfish announced that it would be setting up its operation temporarily at the local 2920 Roadhouse, only seven minutes away from their original location. "We will be setting up at 2920 Roadhouse for the remainder of our season! They have been so gracious to let us stay up and running and we can’t say enough how much we appreciate them!" read their Facebook update.
Patrons can continue to enjoy Hans Crawfish's renowned offerings at 21835 FM 2920, the new location for the crawfish hotspot. Their operation times this week will be: Thursday from 5-9pm, Friday from 5-9pm (ticket only concert), Saturday from 11am-5pm and 5-9pm (ticketed only concert), and Sunday from 11am-5pm.
Through unexpected closures and a challenging season, one thing is clear: the spirit of Hans Crawfish and their loyal fans remains unshakeable.
