Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Offers Free Membership for New Troop Leaders During National Volunteer Month
This National Volunteer Month, the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC)is celebrating the power of volunteerism by offering free memberships to the first 100 new troop leaders who register between April 5 and May 5, 2025. It’s more than a promotion—it’s an invitation to shape the lives of young girls and become part of a movement that has empowered generations of female leaders.
Girl Scout volunteers serve as mentors, role models, and champions of girls' leadership development. From organizing outdoor adventures and STEM challenges to facilitating service projects and skill-building activities, volunteers provide the essential support that enables girls to discover their strengths and grow in confidence. With more than 18,000 adult members, only 1% are paid staff, meaning 99% of GSSJC’s programming is made possible by volunteers.
“Our volunteers are the heart of Girl Scouts, and we are excited to welcome new troop leaders who are ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of girls in our community,” said Mary Vitek, CEO of GSSJC.

The free membership offer is open to new troop leaders using the promo code NVM2025 at registration. Leaders who join as Daisy (K–1) or Brownie (2–3) troop leaders will also receive a monthly supply box filled with step-by-step meeting plans and all the materials needed to lead a troop with confidence.
For those wondering what it’s like to volunteer with Girl Scouts, Alissa Padilla, a GSSJC volunteer, shared her experience:
“I enjoy being a Girl Scout volunteer because it provides me the opportunity to meet and work with amazing other women and girls in our community and surrounding communities with like-minded thoughts, goals, values, and aspirations,” she said. “Being a volunteer also provides me with life skills I wouldn’t otherwise be provided, or think that I may need, but after learning, enables me to apply them to my everyday life.”
Once registered, new volunteers are paired with volunteer experience managers who guide them through troop formation, connect them with fellow leaders, and provide access to tools and training that ensure a successful and rewarding start.

A Movement With a Mission
Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is part of a nationwide organization committed to helping girls be unapologetically themselves while building a better world. Whether they’re scaling a rock wall, building a robot, or organizing a food drive, Girl Scouts tackle challenges that matter to them—supported every step of the way by dedicated adult mentors.
“Girl Scout volunteers have the power to inspire, guide, and uplift the next generation of female leaders,” GSSJC shared. “Through their time and dedication, volunteers create opportunities for girls to dream big, take on challenges, and build confidence that lasts a lifetime.”
How to Get Involved
Becoming a troop leader isn’t just about giving—it’s also about personal growth, friendship, and connection. It’s an opportunity to support girls as they find their voices, all while gaining new skills and joining a community of passionate, like-minded volunteers.
