Free November STEM, Art and Creative Writing Programs at Fulshear Branch Library Give Local Students a Chance to Explore New Skills
For Fulshear families looking for free activities that keep kids learning, creating and having fun outside the classroom, the Fulshear Branch Library has three opportunities coming up in November. From building a robotic hand to creating an optical illusion and writing an original story, local students can try something new, discover hidden talents and enjoy a little creative time with other children their age.
The Fort Bend County Libraries branch is offering three free Thursday evening programs throughout November 2026 for students in grades 4 through 8. Organized by the library's Youth Services Department, the activities combine hands-on learning with imagination, giving families an affordable way to introduce their children to art, science, engineering and storytelling.
Best of all, families won't need to purchase supplies or bring materials from home. The Friends of the Fulshear Library will provide everything participants need.
Three Free November Activities for Kids at Fulshear Branch Library
Each program introduces a different creative skill, allowing students to explore their interests or discover something they might not have considered trying before.
November 5: Magic Picture Frame
The month begins on Thursday, November 5, at 6 p.m., with the "Magic Picture Frame" program.
Participants will use drawing, cutting and construction skills to create a special picture frame that reveals two different images. The project encourages children to experiment with visual creativity while practicing hands-on artistic techniques.
For students who enjoy drawing, making crafts or figuring out how things work, this activity offers a chance to combine those interests into one project they can create themselves.
November 12: Robot Hand STEM Activity
On Thursday, November 12, students can explore science and engineering during the library's "Robot Hand" program.
Using everyday materials such as paper, straws and yarn, participants will construct a robotic hand that demonstrates how real fingers move and function.
This hands-on STEM activity introduces children to basic mechanical concepts and human anatomy through a project they can build themselves. It also gives students who are curious about robotics, engineering or science an opportunity to see how simple materials can help explain more complex ideas.
November 19: Intro to Creative Writing
On Thursday, November 19, the focus shifts from building and crafting to storytelling during the "Intro to Creative Writing" program.
Students will receive a writing prompt and use it to develop their own short stories. Whether they already enjoy writing or are trying creative storytelling for the first time, the activity offers an opportunity to practice organizing ideas, developing a narrative and expressing their imagination through words.
For young readers who have wondered what it might be like to write their own stories, this program provides a welcoming place to begin.
How to Get Free Tickets for Fulshear Library's November Programs
Although all three programs are free, space is limited, and each participant must have a ticket to attend.
Free tickets will be available at the Fulshear Branch Library Youth Services desk beginning at 5:15 p.m. for each program.
Families should keep these participation details in mind:
-
Who can attend: Students in grades 4 through 8.
-
Cost: Free, including all activity supplies.
-
When: Thursdays in November, on November 5, 12 and 19.
-
Tickets: Required for admission and available at the Youth Services desk beginning at 5:15 p.m.
-
Participation: Children may attend one, two or all three programs, depending on their interests and ticket availability.
Students do not have to choose just one activity. A child interested in both robotics and writing, for example, is welcome to participate in both programs as long as space is available.
Because tickets are limited, families may want to arrive early enough to obtain one before the activity begins.
