Fort Bend County MUD 133 Partners with Fort Bend County for Enhanced Law Enforcement Presence
In an effort to further enhance public safety, Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District (MUD) 133, which serves the Lakes of Bella Terra community, has entered into a new partnership with Fort Bend County, specifically the Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, to bolster law enforcement presence in the district. This collaboration, formalized through an interlocal agreement, will provide the district with additional patrol deputies, ensuring greater visibility and rapid response to emergencies, ultimately enhancing security for all residents.
Starting October 1, 2024, and running through September 30, 2025, the partnership will see three deputies assigned to MUD 133, with an estimated cost of $403,870 for the additional law enforcement support. This effort comes at a time when residents of Lakes of Bella Terra have expressed growing concern about safety and security, and the district is responding by investing in increased law enforcement presence to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
About the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office Patrol Division
While the main functions of the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office include serving warrants, criminal and civil processes, and providing bailiffs for the Justice of the Peace courts in the precinct, its Patrol Division plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety across the district. The Patrol Division is highly visible and committed to community-oriented policing, which focuses on building strong relationships with residents, preventing crime, and quickly responding to calls for service. The goal is to not only increase law enforcement presence but also establish trust between residents and officers, fostering a stronger sense of security.
The Patrol Deputies of Precinct 4 are highly trained in various law enforcement areas, including use of force, arrest/search and seizure, accident investigation, emergency vehicle operations, cultural diversity, and community policing. Their training, combined with their use of the same computer and dispatch system as the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office (FBCSO), allows for seamless communication and collaboration between the two agencies, particularly when responding to criminal incidents or processing reports. The Patrol Division also works closely with the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division to ensure that criminal cases are followed up with the appropriate investigative actions.
