Flying Biscuit Cafe Plans Magnolia Location, Bringing All-Day Southern Breakfast to FM 1488
Magnolia-area residents could soon have a new place to gather over biscuits, grits and all-day breakfast, as Flying Biscuit Cafe prepares to open its first location in the community.
Construction filings show the Southern-inspired breakfast and lunch restaurant is planned for 5667 FM 1488, Suite D, in Magnolia. The project calls for a 3,872-square-foot tenant build-out with an estimated construction cost of $450,000.
Renovation work is scheduled to begin Aug. 1, 2026, and reach completion by Nov. 1, 2026. An official opening date has not yet been announced, and construction timelines can change.
For families and commuters traveling through the busy FM 1488 corridor, the arrival would add another sit-down breakfast, brunch and lunch option close to home. It would also extend Flying Biscuit Cafe’s growing Greater Houston presence into western Montgomery County, bringing the brand closer to residents of Magnolia, The Woodlands, Pinehurst and surrounding communities.
What Is Flying Biscuit Cafe?
Flying Biscuit Cafe began in Atlanta’s Candler Park neighborhood in 1993. According to the company, its first batch of biscuits sold out by 11 a.m. on opening day, an early sign that the small neighborhood restaurant had found an audience.
More than three decades later, the restaurant has grown to more than 30 locations across several Southern states, including Texas, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. Despite that expansion, Flying Biscuit continues to describe itself as a neighborhood cafe built around Southern comfort food, fresh ingredients and a relaxed dining experience.
That neighborhood approach may be especially suited to Magnolia, where continued residential and commercial growth along FM 1488 has created demand for more local restaurants that can serve families, weekday diners and weekend brunch crowds.
What Is on the Flying Biscuit Cafe Menu?
Despite its name, Flying Biscuit Cafe offers much more than biscuits.

The restaurant’s all-day format means customers are not limited to ordering pancakes or eggs during traditional morning hours. That flexibility has become part of the brand’s identity, allowing someone to stop in for an early breakfast, meet friends for brunch or order a breakfast plate later in the afternoon.
Flying Biscuit Cafe Continues Greater Houston Expansion
Flying Biscuit Cafe has steadily expanded across the Houston region in recent years.
The company’s current Greater Houston locations include Memorial City, Cypress, East Downtown Houston, Kingwood and Richmond. The Richmond restaurant opened in the Harvest Green area in February 2024, while the Kingwood location followed in April 2024. The East Downtown cafe began serving customers later that year.
The Cypress restaurant at 12020 FM 1960 Road provides one of the closest existing locations for residents northwest of Houston, but the planned Magnolia cafe would bring the concept considerably closer to western Montgomery County.
The FM 1488 location would also represent a natural next step in the company’s regional growth. Magnolia and nearby communities have welcomed a steady mix of new restaurants, retailers and service businesses as rooftops and traffic have increased across the area.
For residents, that growth is often measured in practical ways: shorter drives for a weekend meal, more places to meet neighbors and additional dining choices that do not require traveling deeper into Houston.
A New Breakfast and Brunch Option for Magnolia
The planned Flying Biscuit Cafe is being developed as a new restaurant space rather than a minor remodel of an existing operation. The construction scope identifies the project as a full tenant fit-out for a breakfast and lunch restaurant.
With nearly 3,900 square feet, the Magnolia location would have room to function as more than a quick breakfast stop. Flying Biscuit restaurants generally offer dine-in service, takeout, delivery and catering, positioning them for family meals, business breakfasts, community gatherings and weekend brunch outings.
The brand also operates fundraising programs through participating cafes for schools, sports teams, nonprofit organizations and community groups, another feature that could help the restaurant establish local ties after opening.
