FBJSL Celebrates 25 Years of Service, Opens Applications for 2026 Scholarships

January 12 2026

As the Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) commemorates 25 years of empowering women and enriching the community, it is once again extending a helping hand to local students and women returning to school through its 2026 Scholarship Awards.

This year’s milestone makes the scholarship opportunity even more meaningful for the Sugar Land-based nonprofit, which has long been woven into the fabric of Fort Bend County. Founded in 2001, FBJSL is a women-led volunteer organization dedicated to improving the community through trained volunteerism and philanthropy. Over the past two and a half decades, the League has contributed over $6.3 million to local nonprofits through its fundraising efforts.

“As we celebrate this anniversary, we are honored to support women at every stage of their educational journey and to recognize the power of service, perseverance, and new beginnings,” said Brandy Edwards, FBJSL’s Scholarship Coordinator.

Applications are now open for two types of scholarships for the 2026–2027 academic year:

  • Volunteer Scholarships – Up to six $1,000 awards will be granted to high school senior girls who demonstrate outstanding volunteerism and community service. Applicants must live in Fort Bend County, have a GPA of at least 2.5, complete 100 or more hours of community service, and plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

  • New Beginnings Scholarship – One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to an adult woman returning to school after a break in her education. This award is designed to support personal growth and increased career opportunities, with applicants required to show financial need and be accepted into an accredited college, university, or vocational program.

Both scholarships reflect FBJSL’s ongoing mission to develop the potential of women, promote volunteerism, and advance the well-being of Fort Bend County. The League encourages eligible applicants to apply by March 1, 2026. Application links and full details can be found online at fbjsl.org/scholarship-programs.

In a region known for its diversity and growth, FBJSL remains committed to creating opportunities for women and youth alike. From organizing charity events to fostering lifelong friendships among its members, the League’s influence continues to resonate throughout Fort Bend County.
