Enhancements Underway for Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve
Get ready to explore an even bigger and more connected Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, complete with a new playground, access to miles of additional trails, and new trees, all arriving by year-end.
Spearheaded by Harris County Precinct 3, the new park area will include a small parking lot and playground. More importantly, it will help connect the recently completed pedestrian undercrossing to the newly constructed boardwalk. In the future this segment will also connect to the existing trail system at Kickerillo-Mischer by the old fire station. Officials hope to have multiple parks that will be connected by the same trail, with more access points for the users and with added parking. The expansion paves the way for future trail connections and represents a major milestone in Cypress Creek Greenway's development.
Precinct 3 will be spending less than $100,000 on this project out of general funds, but it is part of a recently announced $4,000,000 initiative that will bring a larger vision of the Cypress Creek Greenway to life. Learn more about the master plan for Harris County's largest park system here.
The project was previously started by Harris County Precinct 4, and officials anticipate that it will be completed by November of 2023. Once complete, residents will be able to gain access to new sections of the trail and all the wildlife that comes with it.
