Discover Elgin Farmers’ Market, Bringing Local Food and Community Spirit to Downtown Elgin Each Week

December 26 2025

For Homestead Estates residents looking for a simple way to support local farmers while enjoying an easygoing evening close to home, the Elgin Farmers’ Market has quietly become a Thursday tradition in downtown Elgin.

Held at Veterans’ Memorial Park at 109 Depot Street, the Elgin Farmers’ Market is a year-round, weekly market that brings together local food, friendly faces, and a shared sense of community. The market typically takes place every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., offering residents a convenient after-work opportunity to shop local and connect with neighbors. The next scheduled market date is Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Run entirely by local volunteers, the market centers on supporting small farmers, growers, and makers who personally produce everything they sell. From fresh produce and grass-fed meats to baked goods, coffee, and handmade items, the focus stays firmly on locally sourced products and personal connections.

Beyond shopping, the Elgin Farmers’ Market has become a social anchor for downtown Elgin. Live local music is featured every week, and a seasonal outdoor yoga class is hosted monthly, giving residents additional reasons to linger. The market’s growth has also encouraged nearby Main Street businesses to stay open during market hours, helping turn Thursday evenings into a shared downtown experience.

A Closer Look at Local Vendors

Each week’s vendor lineup reflects the agricultural roots and creative spirit of the Elgin area. Participating vendors include Amber Oaks Ranch, offering grass-fed beef, lamb, and pastured poultry raised using sustainable grazing practices, and Olson Family Farm, a family-run operation specializing in lamb meat, chicken eggs, and seasonal produce grown without chemicals.

Freshly prepared foods are also a draw. Smash Daddies serves classic smash burgers, while Sweet Tooth ATX brings award-winning baked goods and seasonal treats. Nanny Goat Salsa offers a range of bold flavors, from Original to XXHot, and Yegua Creek Farms provides pecans, jams, honey, and baked goods sourced from between Elgin and Taylor.

Shoppers can also find non-food items made locally, including alpaca clothing and yarn from Hummers Homestead, Texas-native plants from Shepard’s Flock, and handcrafted goods from Chaparral Cultivation Emporium, a mobile plant nursery operated by longtime growers and makers.

Haciendo Coffee rounds out the experience with micro-batch coffee roasted fresh using clean hot air, while Headlong Farm focuses on baked goods and seasonal produce grown with an emphasis on good food and community enjoyment.

A Community Tradition Close to Home

For Homestead Estates residents, the Elgin Farmers’ Market offers more than groceries. It provides a consistent place to meet neighbors, support local businesses, and spend time outdoors without leaving town. By working closely with the City of Elgin and nearby businesses, the market continues to strengthen downtown as a place where residents naturally gather.

Whether stopping by for dinner ingredients, enjoying live music, or simply catching up with familiar faces, the Elgin Farmers’ Market remains a welcoming weekly tradition rooted in community, sustainability, and local pride.

Residents are encouraged to stay tuned with My Neighborhood News for ongoing coverage of Elgin community events, local markets, and neighborhood happenings throughout the year.
