For anyone who has been putting off buying a new mattress, the Cypress Springs High School Band is offering a decidedly different way to shop — and every purchase can help support local students.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Cypress Springs High School will host its annual mattress fundraiser, transforming part of the campus into a temporary mattress showroom where shoppers can compare beds, ask questions and make a purchase much like they would at a traditional mattress store.

The event is open to the public, making it an opportunity for families throughout Cypress and northwest Houston to tackle a fairly big household purchase while helping the Cy-Springs Band raise money.

A Mattress Store — For One Day — Inside Cypress Springs High School

Organizers expect to have dozens of mattresses — roughly 30 to 40 — set up in the school commons, giving shoppers the chance to see and try different options before deciding what works for them.

Brands advertised for the Cypress Springs High School mattress sale include Beautyrest, Purple and Helix.

The fundraiser is designed to function much like a regular mattress shopping experience rather than simply placing orders from a catalog. New mattresses come with full factory warranties, according to event information, and all payment types are accepted.

Prices begin at $199, with financing available for shoppers who qualify.

There is also a $50 discount on mattresses priced at $199 or more, according to the event flyer.

Delivery and Old Mattress Removal Available

Buying a mattress can involve more than simply choosing one, and organizers say the fundraiser will also offer delivery and removal of old mattresses.

That may make the event especially convenient for Cypress-area residents who already know they need to replace a bed but have been hesitant to deal with transporting a new mattress — or figuring out what to do with the old one.

Instead, families can shop locally at Cypress Springs High School, arrange financing if needed and ask about having the new mattress delivered.

Mattress Purchases Help Support the Cy-Springs Band

While shoppers are getting something they need for their own homes, the larger purpose of the Sept. 27 sale is supporting the Cypress Springs High School Band.

School band programs involve far more than the performances families see under the Friday night lights or on a concert stage. Equipment, transportation, uniforms and other program needs can add up quickly, which is why fundraisers remain an important part of many high school music programs.

For band families, the mattress sale offers another way for the surrounding Cypress community to support students — even for residents who may not have a child attending the school.

And unlike a fundraiser built around something families might buy simply to help, this one centers on a purchase many households eventually need to make anyway.
