Cypress Ranch Wins 16-6A Title; 7 Volleyball Teams Enter Playoffs

The District 16-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons ended on Oct. 24 with seven CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL Class 6A playoffs.

Cypress Ranch High School is advancing as the undefeated District 16-6A champion. This is the third consecutive district title for the Mustangs.

Also advancing from District 16-6A are Bridgeland, Langham Creek and Cypress Woods high schools. Both Bridgeland and Langham Creek finished with an 11-3 record. The Bears and Lobos played a seeding match on Oct. 27 where the Lobos earned District 16-6A’s second seed and Bridgeland claimed the third seed. Cypress Woods finished with an 8-6 record, claiming the fourth seed.

Cypress Woods High School junior Jaya Rimm helped lead the Wildcats to an 8-6 record, earning the team the fourth playoff seed in District 16-6A. Cypress Woods will play Tomball Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Waller High School.
 

In District 17-6A, Cy-Fair, Jersey Village, Cypress Ridge and Stratford high schools are advancing to the postseason. Cy-Fair finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed, while Jersey Village posted a 9-5 record, claiming the third seed. Cypress Ridge finished with a 7-7 record, claiming the district’s fourth seed and earned its first playoff berth in program history.

Cypress Ranch, Langham Creek, Bridgeland and Cypress Woods will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cypress Ranch will face Klein Cain at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Cypress Ranch High School (10700 Fry Road);
  • Langham Creek will play Klein Collins at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road);
  • Bridgeland will meet Tomball at 5 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Cypress Creek High School (9815 Grant Road); and
  • Cypress Woods will play Tomball Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Waller High School (31213 Waller Spring Creek Road).

Cy-Fair, Jersey Village and Cypress Ridge will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cy-Fair will face Houston Lamar at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30 at the Don Coleman Coliseum (1050 Dairy Ashford Road);
  • Jersey Village will play Houston Westside at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Jersey Village High School (7600 Solomon Street); and
  • Cypress Ridge will meet Houston Bellaire at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Cypress Ridge High School (7900 N. Eldridge Parkway).
Cypress Ridge High School junior Dercy Mercado helped lead the Rams to a 7-7 record in District 17-6A, earning the fourth playoff seed and the first playoff berth for the Rams in program history. Cypress Ridge will play Houston Bellaire at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Cypress Ridge High School.
 
Tickets for Cypress Ranch, Langham Creek, Bridgeland and Cypress Woods are $5 each for adults and students and are sold online. Tickets for Cy-Fair, Jersey Village and Cypress Ridge and $5 each for adults and students and are sold online.
