Cypress Falls High School Girls Cross Country Makes School History With First District Championship

Some high school victories become part of a school's history. For the Cypress Falls High School girls cross country team, October 15, 2026, was one of those days.

The Golden Eagles captured their first girls cross country district team championship in school history, winning the District 16-6A Cross Country Championships at Spring Creek Park in Tomball.

Led by sophomore Alice Wallis, who won the individual district title, Cypress Falls earned 31 points to finish ahead of Cy-Fair High School and Langham Creek High School.

For the Cypress Falls community in northwest Houston, the championship represents a milestone for a program whose athletes now have the distinction of accomplishing something no previous girls cross country team at the school had achieved.

And the results showed that the Golden Eagles did not rely on just one standout performance to get there.

Three Cypress Falls Runners Finish Among the Top Four

Cypress Falls made its presence known near the front of the District 16-6A girls race, placing three runners among the top four finishers.

Sophomore Alice Wallis led the field, winning the individual district championship with a time of 20:10.68.

She was followed closely by Cypress Woods junior Addison Rose, who finished second in 20:13.14, just 2.46 seconds behind Wallis.

Cypress Falls senior Amari White claimed third place with a time of 20:26.17, while sophomore Alajhia Moore finished fourth in 20:32.08.

That meant three of the first four runners to cross the finish line were wearing Cypress Falls uniforms.

In a sport where team scores are determined by finishing positions, those results gave the Golden Eagles a strong foundation for their championship-winning 31-point total.

Cy-Fair High School finished second with 59 points, while Langham Creek High School placed third with 69.

The 28-point margin between Cypress Falls and runner-up Cy-Fair demonstrated the strength of the Golden Eagles' overall team performance.

A First for the Cypress Falls Girls Cross Country Program

The first district team title carries particular significance for Cypress Falls because it establishes a new milestone in the school's athletic history.

For student-athletes, a district championship represents the results of preparation that often happens long before spectators gather at the starting line.

Cross country runners spend much of their season building endurance, improving race strategy and learning how to compete as individuals while contributing to a team score.

At Cypress Falls, those efforts came together in a championship performance led by runners from different grade levels.

Wallis and Moore, both sophomores, helped lead the Golden Eagles to their historic victory, while White contributed a third-place finish during her senior year.

That combination of younger talent and senior experience offers a meaningful moment for the program. White will graduate with a district championship as part of her high school athletic career, while Wallis and Moore have the opportunity to build on the achievement in future seasons.

For families and supporters who follow Cypress Falls athletics, the championship also brings recognition to a group of student-athletes whose work may not always receive the same attention as larger spectator sports.

Cypress Falls Boys Also Earn a Top-10 Finish

The Golden Eagles had another runner earn recognition at the District 16-6A Championships.

Junior Ellis Richardson finished eighth in the boys race with a time of 17:25.36, placing among the district's top 10 individual runners.

The boys team championship went to Cypress Woods High School, which finished with 38 points. Langham Creek High School placed second with 47 points, and Cypress Creek High School finished third with 100.

Richardson's performance added to Cypress Falls' individual achievements at the district meet and placed him among the runners advancing to regional competition.

Together, the girls' historic championship and Richardson's top-10 finish gave the Golden Eagles multiple accomplishments to recognize from the 2026 district championships.

Cypress Falls Joins a Historic Year for CFISD Cross Country

The Golden Eagles' championship came during a particularly notable season for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD cross country.

Across the district, CFISD teams captured multiple district championships, including the Bridgeland High School boys and girls sweeping District 23-6A and the Cypress Woods boys winning District 16-6A.

The 2026 regional championships also marked a first for CFISD, with runners from all 12 district high schools qualifying for regional competition.

For Cypress Falls, that districtwide accomplishment provides additional context for its own milestone. The Golden Eagles are part of a larger group of student-athletes representing Cypress-area schools at the next level of Texas high school cross country.

The top three teams and 10 individual runners from each district race advanced to regional competition.

The Region II-6A Cross Country Championships were scheduled for October 26 at Rolling Hills Soccer Complex in Fort Worth, while the Region III-7A Championships were scheduled for the same day at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville.

What's Next for the Golden Eagles?

With their first district championship secured, the Cypress Falls girls advanced from the district meet with a place in school history already established.

Wallis, White and Moore also earned recognition for their individual top-four finishes, while Richardson represented Cypress Falls among the boys' top-10 finishers.

Whatever the next round of competition brings, the 2026 season has already given Cypress Falls families, students and alumni something worth remembering.

Years from now, when future Golden Eagles look back at the school's cross country records, the 2026 girls team will be remembered as the first to win a district championship.

For a group of student-athletes who put in the work together, that is an accomplishment that will remain part of Cypress Falls High School's story.
