Cypress Area Featured Park: John Paul Landing Park
John Paul Landing Park, an 876-acre park, features a serene 176-acre lake that serves as a major flood detention facility for the area, and accommodates terrestrial and aquatic wildlife. Other amenities include an educational center, a cricket field, exercise stations, licensed fishing, pickleball, a picnic area, a playground, and four reservable pavilions, which offer the perfect venue for birthday parties, family reunions, Scouting events and much more.
The park is also home to the John Paul Landing Environmental Education Center, which features many ways to learn about the wildlife and ecology of the area. Originally opened in February of 2020, this hidden gem is nestled inside the 865-acre park and houses several permanent displays, as well as games and activities for all to enjoy. Try your hand at the feather matching game, compare your “wingspan” to those of local birds, explore the Discovery Room, or take part in one of our many nature-related programs. Displays offer a glimpse into the eco-regions of Texas, the local watersheds, and the different layers of a lake. Located at 24202 West Road in Cypress, John Paul Landing Park is open daily to the public from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. For more information about John Paul Landing Park, please visit the park website.
