Cy-Fair Educational Foundation and Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital Team Up for the Cy-Hoops Invitational

November 04 2024

The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), a nonprofit dedicated to providing college scholarships for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduating seniors for over 50 years, and Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital are teaming up to host the Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational basketball tournament. This highly anticipated event will take place from December 12 to 14, 2024.

The Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational is a premier high school basketball tournament and a significant community event. It aims to boost community spirit, promote the sport of basketball, and raise funds for student scholarships and innovative staff development programs for the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. This year's tournament will feature 12 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and 12 out-of-district boys' varsity basketball teams. Notably, eight tournament teams have been ranked in the top 25 according to preseason rankings by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

The CFEF's legacy goes back to 1970 when the foundation began its work on college scholarships. In 1998, the foundation began raising funds for staff-development grants with the Salute to the Stars initiative. The foundation's vision is to empower present-day students and future leaders through higher education. As the Cy-Fair ISD has expanded over the years, the foundation has consistently endeavored to enlarge its donor base to increase funds for students and staff. CFEF has provided scholarships at all 12 high schools within the district, including the latest addition, Bridgeland High School, which opened in 2017.
