Cuarto de Kilo Burgers Is Back in San Antonio Near Potranco Ranch West
San Antonio burger fans who wondered whether they had seen the last of Cuarto de Kilo can stop wondering.
Cuarto de Kilo Burgers is back, this time at 12370 Potranco Rd #101, San Antonio, TX 78253, bringing the Guadalajara-born burger concept to the far West Side and closer to Potranco Ranch West. The restaurant reopened after its former Helotes location closed in November 2025.
The reopening marks a second chapter for the brand in the San Antonio area. Cuarto de Kilo first entered the local market in 2023 with its Helotes restaurant before announcing plans to move to a larger location on Potranco Road. The new restaurant gives the company another opportunity to introduce local diners to a burger concept that already has a much larger presence in Mexico.
And these are not particularly restrained burgers. Cuarto de Kilo is known for large beef patties grilled over mesquite charcoal, which gives the meat the smoky flavor at the center of the brand’s identity. Its menu also brings in Mexican influences through toppings such as guacamole and grilled peppers.
Founders Álvaro Aguilar and Miguel Pérez started Cuarto de Kilo in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2010. From there, the company expanded to more than 30 locations in Mexico before setting its sights on the U.S. market. According to the San Antonio Express-News, the reopened Potranco Road restaurant is currently Cuarto de Kilo’s only location outside Mexico.
That makes this story a little different from the other businesses on the development radar. There is no construction timeline to watch and no future opening date to guess. The restaurant is already serving customers at 12370 Potranco Rd, making it an option now for Potranco Ranch West residents looking for something different on burger night.
For anyone who remembers the former Helotes restaurant, the most important update is simply the new address. For everyone else, the Potranco reopening offers a first chance to see what a Guadalajara burger brand built around mesquite charcoal brings to San Antonio’s increasingly crowded burger scene.
