Conroe Symphony Orchestra to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with Patriotic Concert Benefiting Local Veterans

As communities across the nation begin commemorating America’s 250th birthday, the Conroe Symphony Orchestra is inviting residents to take part in a celebration that combines patriotic music, community pride, and support for local veterans.

The orchestra’s season finale, Celebrate America!, will take place Saturday, June 27, at First Methodist Church Conroe, marking the conclusion of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra’s 27th season. Beyond the music, the event carries a local impact: all proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission, helping support efforts that honor those who have served.

A Patriotic Tribute Through Music

Under the direction of conductor Gary Liebst, the concert will feature a lineup of patriotic favorites that have become synonymous with American celebrations and Independence Day traditions.

Audience members can expect to hear John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, recognized as the nation’s official march, along with Irving Berlin’s beloved God Bless America. The program also includes Morton Gould’s spirited American Salute, Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA, and Tchaikovsky’s dramatic 1812 Overture, famous for its triumphant themes and cannon-fire effects that have become a staple of Fourth of July festivities across the United States.

“Come hear the patriotic strains of Stars and Stripes Forever, God Bless America, American Salute, God Bless the USA, and the 1812 Overture,” Liebst said.

The performance is part of the broader America250 celebration recognizing the nation’s semiquincentennial. The Conroe Symphony Orchestra was selected by the Texas Commission on the Arts to represent its U.S. Congressional District in the upcoming America250 initiative, highlighting the organization’s role in promoting arts and culture throughout the region.

Supporting Veterans While Celebrating Community

For many attendees, the concert offers an opportunity to do more than enjoy an afternoon of live music. Every ticket purchased helps support local veterans through the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission, connecting the patriotic theme of the performance with a meaningful community cause.

More Than a Concert

As Conroe and Montgomery County continue to grow, organizations like the Conroe Symphony Orchestra play an important role in preserving the arts as a community gathering point. Through performances, educational outreach, and partnerships with local organizations, the nonprofit orchestra seeks to enrich quality of life for residents across the region.

The organization’s mission is centered on adding to the cultural enrichment of the community and helping ensure a better quality of life for the Conroe area. Its vision is to be recognized as one of the premier community orchestras in Texas while remaining deeply connected to the residents it serves.

Supported by community donations, grants, ticket sales, and organizations including the City of Conroe, Montgomery County Community Foundation, Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts, and the Texas Commission on the Arts, the orchestra continues to bring live symphonic performances to local audiences year after year.
