Conroe ISD to Hold First Bond Planning Committee Meeting

January 31 2023

Conroe ISD has formed a Bond Planning Committee to evaluate the rapidly growing District’s facility and capital improvement needs in preparation for a potential 2023 bond proposal on the November 7 ballot.

The 160-member Bond Planning Committee, which includes 32 Board appointees and, for the first time, six students, was approved at the Jan. 17 Board Meeting and will convene on Thursday, Feb. 2. Ten additional meetings will be held, with the final meeting on Monday, July 17. Topics for the committee to consider include, but are not limited to, student safety, new construction, transportation, infrastructure and technology.

“We are excited for this group to get started on this process and to work together in producing a plan that benefits our entire community,” Superintendent Dr. Curtis Null said. “These 160 individuals represent a large cross-section of our district, with balance across each of our six feeder zones, as well as different age groups, business owners, and residents.”

Conroe ISD, which currently serves 71,000 students and has experienced more than 10% enrollment growth over the last two years, is projected to grow to nearly 100,000 students over the next 10 years, according to Population and Survey Analysts’ (PASA) 2022 Demographic Study. PASA also provided a higher growth scenario indicating the District could grow to as many as 120,000 students over the same period.
