Lunar New Year Dancing Lions Celebration at Cinco Ranch Branch Library

Join us at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library for the Lunar New Year Dancing Lions Celebration!

Free activities and crafts celebrating the Year of the Snake are planned for families with children of all ages.

• Dancing lions from the Katy Kung Fu Lion Dance Team in the lobby at 11:00AM. The team will explain the tradition in the meeting room at 10:30AM;
• Musicians from the North American Youth Chinese Orchestra will perform traditional Chinese music on various instruments;
• Visitors may join in playing Cai Deng Mi, or “Guessing the Lantern’s Riddle,” and win a prize if the answer is correct!;
• Learn about the art of Chinese calligraphy with a volunteer from the T.E. Harman Center who will demonstrate by writing names in Chinese;
• Children may make their own paper lanterns to take home by visiting the library’s Youth Department;
