History Discussion Group at Kleb Woods Nature Center

Each month, we will talk about a different book, article, or historical topic. These programs are intended to foster discussion, and attendees are encouraged to comment and participate. History Discussion Groups are best suited for adults and older students with a keen interest in history.

In November, Jim Sigmund from the Cypress Historical Society will be talking about the early history of Houston Hot Wells. If you came to the Cypress area after the 1960’s, you would only know Houston Hot Wells as a shooting range. Those who grew up here in the 1940s and 1950s remember it as a top-notch swimming resort. But very few people know the story of how this facility began in the early 1900s and the colorful history of this Cypress area landmark. Jim uses old documents, photographs, and newspaper clippings to tell the intriguing story of Houston Hot Wells!
