Description

History takes flight on May 17, as the Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) invites the public to its Hangar Hang Out and Warbird Rides Day, taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This open-house event offers aviation enthusiasts, families, and history buffs a rare opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of World War II-era aircraft up close—and even in flight.

The highlight of the day includes a special guest appearance by the SB2C Helldiver, one of the last flying examples of its kind.

Event features:
  • Free museum admission and WWII aviation exhibits
  • Flights available in vintage warbirds (tickets $300–$400)
  • Hands-on history and educational opportunities
  • Rides can be booked online at houstonwing.org
  • Family-friendly fun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Houston Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is part of a national organization that restores and flies vintage military aircraft to educate, inspire, and honor veterans with the mission to “Keep ‘Em Flying.”
