UPDATE from Katy ISD, 4/4/2025 at 10:09 AM: Due to potential severe weather, the Katy ISD 39th Annual Folk Life Festival, scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at the Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center, has been cancelled. This event will not be rescheduled this year.

Experience the life of early Texans at Katy ISD’s 39th Annual Folk Life Festival. This exciting event will take place on April 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center.

• Texas Pioneer Soldier re-enactments
• Blacksmith demonstrations
• Honeybee keeping
• Chuck wagon skills
• Dulcimer music
• Quilting, spinning, and weaving
• Archery and Native American culture
• Texas cowboy camp and more!

Guests can also enjoy exploring the OLC with science and history exhibits, nature trails, and interactive pioneer games.
