Bethlehem Peace Light Ceremony at Jersey Village City Hall
16327 Lakeview Drive
Jersey Village ,TX 77040
The flame of peace is making its way to Jersey Village. On Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM, the community is invited to a heartfelt and unifying Peace Light Ceremony at Jersey Village City Hall, located at 16327 Lakeview Drive, Jersey Village, TX 77040.
Organized by volunteers with Scouting America, this event is part of the global Peace Light North America initiative—an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to sharing the continuous flame of the Peace Light from Bethlehem across North America. The ceremony is open to everyone, regardless of religious background or Scouting affiliation, and welcomes all members of the Jersey Village and surrounding communities to take part in this symbol of hope, unity, and harmony.
What is the Peace Light?
The Peace Light originates in Bethlehem at the Church of the Nativity, where a flame is kept burning year-round. This flame is transported to Vienna, Austria, then to New York City, and from there, spread across the world—hand-to-hand, lantern-by-lantern. It touches places of worship, hospitals, shelters, prisons, and homes, carrying a powerful message of peace and goodwill.
What to Expect
A Scouting America volunteer will lead the Jersey Village ceremony, providing historical context and sharing the Light’s global significance. Attendees wishing to take the Peace Light home are encouraged to bring a long-burning candle or lantern and a safe transport container, as part of this living tradition of passing peace from person to person.
All Are Welcome
This is a community-centered, inclusive event—a rare opportunity to be part of a global chain of goodwill. Families, individuals, houses of worship, and civic groups are all encouraged to attend, receive the Light, and spread its message across the Houston area and beyond.
