Austin Museum Day at the Hezikiah Haskell House brings visitors to the Hezikiah Haskell House in Austin for a small but meaningful afternoon of Black history, neighborhood heritage, and live music.
Docents will share the story of the house, built by a formerly enslaved man around 1875 and later owned by Hezikiah Haskell and his family, while also introducing visitors to the history of Clarksville, one of Texas’ early freedom communities. Free refreshments and blues and soul music from Soul Man Sam and his band round out the afternoon with a warm community touch.
