6th Annual Fort Bend County DA’s Ride for Survivors

Cyclists, families and community supporters will come together in Sugar Land this fall for a morning built around fitness, public safety and support for local crime victims.

The 6th Annual Fort Bend County DA’s Ride for Survivors will take place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 7 a.m. to noon at Brazos River Park, 18427 Southwest Freeway in Sugar Land. Presented by the Expose Excellence Youth Foundation in partnership with the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, the annual Fort Bend County cycling event raises funds for organizations helping survivors of violent crime while also supporting youth-focused community programs.

Participants can choose from multiple ways to take part:

• 20-mile cycling route
• 40-mile cycling route
• 55-mile cycling route
• Family-friendly Color Run
• Opportunities to donate, sponsor or support the event without riding
• No separate fundraising requirement for cyclists
• Cycling registration: $60

The three cycling routes give riders options ranging from a shorter Fort Bend County bike ride to a more substantial 55-mile challenge. Official GPS routes are available through Strava, and organizers say the longer courses have been adjusted to reduce the amount of riding on FM 521.

Rider Support and Safety Along the Routes

The Ride for Survivors is supported by a coordinated law enforcement and emergency-services presence designed to help cyclists navigate the course safely.

Plans for the 2026 event include:

• Patrol units positioned at major intersections
• Directional signage throughout the cycling routes
• Two SAG support vehicles for riders who need assistance
• Fort Bend County EMS on site
• Hydration stations with snacks
• Portable restrooms along the course
• Rest stops at Brazos River Park and Baines Middle School
• Turnaround support areas for longer-distance cyclists
• A bicycle repair station at the start and finish area
• Pickle juice for riders, returning after proving popular with previous participants

Organizers have also requested that the Texas Department of Transportation sweep FM 521 and other roadways before the Fort Bend County bike ride.

Law enforcement officers and patrol units will assist riders at major intersections and throughout the course, while signs and GPS routes will help participants stay on track. Local law enforcement personnel also donated their time and efforts to support last year’s event.

A Family-Friendly Color Run in Sugar Land

Residents do not have to be experienced cyclists to participate.

The event’s family-friendly Color Run gives children, parents and other community members an opportunity to join the Ride for Survivors on foot while supporting the same mission. A post-ride gathering is also planned, with additional details expected from organizers closer to the event.

Miles That Help Fort Bend County Crime Survivors

Funds generated through registration fees, sponsorships and donations help local organizations that provide safety, shelter, food, advocacy and other support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes.

Last year’s Ride for Survivors generated $20,000 in grants, according to the event’s official website. Information provided for the 2026 event also states that more than $20,000 in grants was ultimately awarded to 10 local nonprofit organizations during Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Supporting Fort Bend County Youth Through Expose Excellence

The event also supports the work of the Expose Excellence Youth Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization connected to Expose Excellence youth programming.

The organization works with schools, churches, community leaders and nonprofits to connect young people with educational resources, community programs and opportunities intended to remove barriers to education. Its programming focuses on children ages 10 to 17.

Through the Ride for Survivors, participants can support both survivors rebuilding after crime and young people working toward stronger futures.
