The 2026 Book Fest Community Reads Author Interview brings readers to George Memorial Library in Richmond for an engaging afternoon with award-winning journalist and author Rena Pederson. Set in the library’s meeting room, this community book event highlights one of Fort Bend County’s notable literary programs with a conversation centered on storytelling, journalism, and Texas history.
Pederson was selected for the 2026 Fort Bend County Community Reads program for her book The King of Diamonds. The discussion explores her latest work, The King of Diamonds: The Search for the Elusive Texas Jewel Thief, a true-crime mystery that steps into the glamorous and secretive world of 1960s Dallas, where a daring jewel thief stayed ahead of police for more than a decade. Her career in Texas journalism, including leadership at The Dallas Morning News and service on the Pulitzer Prize Board, adds depth to a conversation many local readers, writers, and history fans will not want to miss.
