Cold Start Coffee Officially Opens in Spring After Weather Delay, Serving Up Specialty Drinks, Fresh Bites and a Place to Connect

Northwest Houston
October 13 2026

After months of anticipation, a few unexpected delays and one final weather-related postponement, Cold Start Coffee officially celebrated its grand opening in Spring on Sunday, October 11, 2026, welcoming the community to a new coffee shop where espresso, automotive culture and local connections share the spotlight.

Located at 18311 TC Jester Blvd., Suite A, near Louetta Road, the independently owned café is the creation of Stephanie Lopez, her husband Oscar Lopez and their friend and business partner Marshall Doreen. The trio set out to build something different from a traditional neighborhood coffee shop, combining their love of cars and motorcycles with a welcoming space where people can grab a drink, enjoy a bite to eat or simply spend time together.

The grand opening, originally scheduled for October 4, was rescheduled due to weather, but the change of plans did not diminish the enthusiasm surrounding the new Spring business. Local families, coffee lovers and automotive enthusiasts turned out for the October 11 celebration, joined by vendors and event co-host HTX Exotics.

In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook the following day, the owners thanked everyone who helped bring their long-awaited opening to life.

"From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU to everyone who came out, supported our dream, brought their families, and helped make our grand opening one to remember."

What's on the Menu at Cold Start Coffee in Spring?

While its automotive-inspired atmosphere gives Cold Start Coffee plenty of personality, the menu offers its own reasons to stop by. Traditional coffee drinkers will find familiar favorites, including drip coffee, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, cortados, flat whites and mochas, along with matcha lattes, chai tea lattes, cold brew, iced coffee drinks and blended frappes.

For customers interested in trying something a little different, Cold Start Coffee's signature drink menu draws inspiration from racing and performance culture. The Cold Start Latte combines caramel and cinnamon, while the Clutch Drop Lattefeatures chocolate and pistachio flavors. The Podium Finish Latte pairs honey and lavender, and the Turbocharged Caramel Latte delivers a caramel latte with four shots of espresso. Other specialty creations include the Apex Vanilla Cold Brew with vanilla and a splash of almond milk, the Holeshot Espresso featuring white chocolate and cinnamon flavors, and the Burn Out Frappe, an Oreo-inspired blended drink. Seasonal offerings include the Pumpkin Cloud.

Non-coffee drinkers have options, too, with hot chocolate, teas, flavored lemonades, bottled beverages and energy drinks available. The café's food selection, appropriately named the "Fuel Station," includes Farmer's Scramble and Southwest Scramble breakfast options, savory pastries such as the Ham and Swiss Croissant, Spinach Mozzarella Danish and Turkey Mozzarella Danish, and more distinctive bites like the Texas Popper Pinwheel and Tuscan Pinwheel. The bakery selection includes scones, croissants, cinnamon rolls, muffins and other sweet treats, with gluten-free options such as a blueberry muffin and banana walnut mini loaf.

For customers wanting to bring some Cold Start Coffee home, the shop also sells bags of coffee, larger to-go containers of brewed coffee and branded merchandise, including mugs, tumblers, shirts and stickers. Menu offerings and availability are subject to change.

A Coffee Shop Inspired by Cars, Motorcycles and Community

Behind Cold Start Coffee is a personal story that extends beyond the café's racing-inspired branding.

Stephanie Lopez, Oscar Lopez and Marshall Doreen share an enthusiasm for motorcycles and the friendships that develop within automotive communities. Their idea was to create a gathering place that welcomes those enthusiasts while remaining equally inviting to families, nearby residents and people who simply appreciate a good coffee shop.

For Stephanie, that commitment to connection also reflects her experience founding Throttle and Therapy, a mental health-focused clothing brand created following the loss of her mother. The project encourages conversations about grief, emotional well-being and the importance of supporting one another, particularly within the motorcycle community.

Cold Start Coffee brings a similar philosophy into a physical space, giving people a place to connect face-to-face.

The café is designed to be family-friendly and pet-friendly, and its owners have previously discussed plans for community activities ranging from car and motorcycle gatherings to trivia nights and book clubs.

For Spring and Klein residents, the concept adds another independently owned destination along the TC Jester and Louetta Road corridor, whether they are looking for a new morning coffee stop, a casual meeting place or somewhere to gather with friends on the weekend.

Months of Planning Lead to a Memorable Opening Weekend

Cold Start Coffee's arrival follows a longer development process than its owners initially anticipated. Construction began in March 2026, with early plans calling for a late spring or early summer opening.

The timeline eventually shifted into October, and the weather-related postponement of the grand opening added one more unexpected turn.

The owners' October 12 message reflected their appreciation for the customers who showed up, shared encouraging words and offered positive feedback about the coffee, food and staff.

They also expressed their excitement about what comes next.

"This is just the beginning! We’re so excited for what’s ahead, the friendships we’ll build, the events we’ll host, and the memories we’ll make together."

Now that the doors are open, Cold Start Coffee has an opportunity to become a regular part of life for nearby neighborhoods, from commuters picking up a latte through the drive-thru to families stopping in for breakfast or friends meeting up after a weekend ride.
