Christmas Tree Lighting Events in Spring, The Woodlands and Conroe: Where to Celebrate the Start of the 2026 Holiday Season

North Houston
November 05 2026

For families across Spring, The Woodlands and Conroe, the holiday season often begins with a familiar tradition: gathering with neighbors, listening to Christmas music and watching a towering tree light up for the first time. This November and December, several community celebrations will give residents an opportunity to enjoy those moments close to home.

The 2026 Christmas tree lighting events in Montgomery County and northern Harris County include celebrations in historic downtown districts, a longtime Township tradition along The Woodlands Waterway and family-friendly activities that extend well beyond the lighting ceremonies themselves. Many are free to attend, making them an appealing way for families to kick off the Christmas season without traveling far from their neighborhoods.

Whether residents are looking for Christmas events in Spring, holiday activities in The Woodlands or a festive evening in downtown Conroe, here's what to know about the dates, locations and celebrations planned for 2026.

Spring: Hometown Holiday Tree Lighting Kicks Off Christmas in Old Town Spring

Saturday, November 14, 2026 | Beginning at 5 p.m., with tree lighting at dusk

Historic Old Town Spring will welcome the Christmas season with its Hometown Holiday Tree Lighting, bringing families and visitors together along Main Street for one of the community's longtime holiday traditions.

The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at 403 Main St, Spring, TX 77373, near the Spring Historical Museum. Organized through the Old Town Spring Visitors Bureau, the event invites residents to gather as the community Christmas tree is illuminated at dusk.

Unlike The Woodlands and Conroe, Spring is an unincorporated community rather than an incorporated city, so its holiday celebrations are organized by community groups and local organizations rather than a municipal government. Old Town Spring's ceremony has become a familiar seasonal gathering for Spring-area families who appreciate the historic district's small-town atmosphere, locally owned shops and walkable streets.

This year's tree lighting also marks the beginning of the 46th Annual Home for the Holidays celebration, which runs November 14 through December 24, 2026. Holiday decorations, entertainment, family activities and opportunities to visit Santa are planned throughout the season, giving families additional reasons to return after the opening celebration.

For Spring residents, the event also offers an opportunity to support the independent merchants, restaurants and small businesses that help make Old Town Spring a destination throughout the year.

Additional information about the ceremony and holiday activities is available through the Old Town Spring Visitors Bureau event listing.

The Woodlands: Market Street Tree Lighting and Lighting of the Doves Return in November

The Woodlands will have two major Christmas lighting celebrations in November, offering families different ways to welcome the holiday season. One centers around a towering Christmas tree at Market Street, while the other is a longtime Township-sponsored festival that brings thousands of residents together along The Woodlands Waterway.

Market Street's 19th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, November 19
Thursday, November 19, 2026 | 6 to 8 p.m. | Market Street, 9595 Six Pines Drive

Market Street will celebrate its 19th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, November 19, with the illumination of its 70-foot Christmas tree in Central Park.

Decorated with more than 25,000 lights, the tree is one of The Woodlands' most recognizable holiday attractions. The annual ceremony launches Market Street in Lights, a synchronized holiday light show that continues through December 31.

The free event includes holiday music, festive snowfall and confetti, with live entertainment by The JoiLux Band and scheduled appearances by popular holiday and storybook characters.

Families who cannot attend opening night can still enjoy the tree's three-minute synchronized light show throughout the season, with performances scheduled hourly from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

For residents of nearby neighborhoods, the annual lighting ceremony offers a chance to enjoy the season while visiting Market Street's shops and restaurants.

Additional information is available through Market Street's official event page.

The Woodlands Township Lighting of the Doves Festival, November 21
Saturday, November 21, 2026 | 3 to 8 p.m. | Town Green Park, 2099 Lake Robbins Drive

Two days after Market Street's celebration, The Woodlands Township will host its annual Lighting of the Doves Festival on Saturday, November 21, at Town Green Park.

The festival has long been an important part of the community's holiday calendar, with illuminated dove sculptures symbolizing peace and the season's spirit of togetherness.

The event features traditional and international performances celebrating the many cultures represented throughout The Woodlands, along with live music, strolling entertainment, craft activities, balloon art, airbrush tattoos and snow play areas.

Children can participate in complimentary craft activities offered by The Woodlands Children's Museum while supplies last. Access to the snow slides and snow play areas requires a $5 wristband, which can be purchased at the event.

The evening's main ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m., when holiday greetings are followed by Santa's arrival along The Woodlands Waterway, the ceremonial illumination of the doves and a fireworks display.

Admission to the festival is free, with designated free parking available in several Town Center lots. Families are encouraged to allow extra time for parking and walking to Town Green Park, particularly around the evening ceremony.

The Lighting of the Doves also coincides with the beginning of Holiday on The Waterway, a seasonal display of illuminated ornaments, snowflakes, light tunnels and other decorations that will remain available into early January 2027.

Residents can find the full festival schedule, parking information and activity details through The Woodlands Township's official Lighting of the Doves page.

Conroe: Christmas Tree Lighting and Christmas Around the Square Bring the Holidays Downtown

Tuesday, December 1, 2026 | Heritage Place, 500 Metcalf Street, and downtown Conroe

Downtown Conroe will welcome the Christmas season on Tuesday, December 1, with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Heritage Place, followed by Christmas Around the Square, an evening of holiday entertainment, shopping and family activities.

Hosted by the City of Conroe and the Downtown Conroe Association, the free celebration will bring residents into the historic downtown district to enjoy Christmas music, seasonal decorations and activities for children.

The city's tourism website lists the tree lighting ceremony at Heritage Place from 6:30 to 7 p.m., while the Downtown Conroe Association lists a 6 p.m. lighting start. Families planning to attend should confirm the final schedule before arriving.

Following the tree lighting, Christmas Around the Square will extend the celebration throughout downtown, where participating merchants will offer holiday refreshments and activities.

Scheduled attractions include Santa's Workshop, Reindeer Games, letters to Santa, face painting and opportunities for children to visit Santa at Mimi's on Main. Live music will fill the streets, including performances by the Jazz Connection, the Montgomery County Choral Society and Caleb and the Ho Ho Ho Homegrown Tomatoes.

A holiday hayride is also planned, along with a drawing for bicycles and other prizes at Founders Plaza. Attendees must be present to win, and information booths throughout downtown will provide drawing tickets and opportunities to vote for favorite holiday window displays.

The festivities will have another attraction this year. Conroe is introducing a walk-through Christmas light display at Founders Plaza, replacing the drive-through format offered at Candy Cane Park in 2025. The new downtown display will open December 1 and continue on scheduled evenings through December 26

For Conroe residents, the celebration is more than an evening of holiday activities. It is also an opportunity to spend time in the city's historic downtown, visit locally owned businesses and enjoy public spaces that continue to play an important role in Conroe's community life.

The celebration is part of the broader Toby Powell Conroe Christmas Celebration, which continues Saturday, December 12, with a daytime festival at Heritage Place and the Downtown Conroe Christmas Parade.

Additional information is available through Visit Conroe's Christmas celebration guide and the Downtown Conroe Association's event page.
