Chick-fil-A Undergoes Major Redevelopment at Highway 6 and West Road in Copperfield

February 18 2025

The Chick-fil-A restaurant at 8440 Highway 6 North in the Copperfield area is undergoing a significant renovation, with the original 4,002-square-foot building being demolished to make way for a newly constructed, modernized facility. The project, which began in January 2025, is expected to be completed by mid-June, 2025, at an estimated cost of $2.1 million. The new Chick-fil-A will feature a 5,663-square-foot restaurant building with expanded drive-thru lanes, canopies, site improvements, and updated signage, according to an official permit filing.

Renovation and Expansion Plans

The existing building, which has served customers for decades and previously underwent renovations in 2013, is being completely replaced to better accommodate increased demand. The redevelopment will include a new drive-thru system designed to improve efficiency and reduce wait times, aligning with Chick-fil-A’s broader efforts to enhance customer experience. Additional site improvements, including parking lot upgrades and enhanced signage, are part of the redesign to support higher traffic volumes and improve accessibility.

Chick-fil-A’s Presence in the Houston Area

Chick-fil-A, a national fast-food chain specializing in chicken-based menu items, was founded in 1946 by S. Truett Cathy in Hapeville, Georgia. The brand has since grown to over 3,000 locations across the United States, known for its customer service, signature Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, and commitment to quality ingredients. In the Cypress, West Houston, and Northwest Houston areas, Chick-fil-A operates multiple locations, serving a large customer base that continues to expand.

The redevelopment of the Highway 6 location reflects Chick-fil-A’s ongoing investment in infrastructure improvements to meet growing customer demand. With high traffic volumes in the Copperfield area, the new facility is expected to streamline service through an improved layout and drive-thru design.

Impact on Customers and Operations

During construction, the location will remain closed, with customers directed to nearby Chick-fil-A restaurants in the area. Alternative locations include the Chick-fil-A at 12345 FM 1960 W near Steeplechase and another at 6175 Hwy 6 N near W Little York, both offering drive-thru and mobile ordering options to ensure continued service for regular customers.

Once completed, the new restaurant will include enhanced kitchen facilities and optimized service areas to improve operational efficiency. The larger footprint of the new building will accommodate increased order volume, ensuring faster service and a more comfortable dining experience for guests.
