October Product Safety Alerts: Everyday Items Families Should Check at Home

Lakes on Eldridge  /   West Houston / Cypress
October 01 2026

Some everyday products families rely on are the subject of new safety alerts involving fire risks, serious injuries and hazards to children. The latest recalls and warnings span several parts of the home, and affected items may still be in use long after their purchase. For anyone who owns one, knowing what’s on the list—and what to do next—matters.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s October 1, 2026 bulletin includes Walmart Expert Grill brushes, Dollar Tree balloon pumps and Bonnlo bunk beds, along with toys, lamps, hand warmers and other household products. Here is what to look for at home—and how to get help if something you own matches an alert.

Before the Next Cookout, Check the Grill Brush

The brush sitting beside the grill is easy to overlook between meals. Walmart’s recall covers about 4.48 million Expert Grill wire-bristle brushes whose small metal bristles can detach, remain on a cooking surface or food, and cause serious internal injuries if swallowed.

Look for one of these model numbers on the packaging or a sticker or tag attached to the brush: EX5607031616002, EX5607031616003, XG1310700206, XG1136178597003 or XG1410700124. The affected products include handheld and long-handled brushes, a three-head brush and a brush sold in a 10-piece grill-tool set. Sales span January 2021 through August 2026, with different dates for each model.

Stop using a recalled brush and contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 for a full refund or Walmart credit and instructions on returning or discarding it. CPSC’s brush recall includes photos to help identify each version. No incidents or injuries were reported.

A Party-Prep Item to Pull Off the Shelf

If an electric balloon pump helps you get ready for birthdays or neighborhood celebrations, check its underside before plugging it in. Dollar Tree is recalling about 360,500 pink pumps with blue handles and two nozzles. Model 406198 appears on the silver bottom label and packaging.

The pumps can overheat. Dollar Tree received three reports, including flames inside one unit and an explosion in another; no injuries were reported. They were sold in stores and online, including through DoorDash, from August 2025 through July 2026 for about $17.

Stop using the pump and return it to a Dollar Tree store for a full refund. Online purchasers should contact the company for a prepaid return label. Call 877-530-8733 or use the contact information in the balloon-pump recall.

Bonnlo Bunk Beds Need Immediate Attention

For families with a Bonnlo twin-over-twin metal bunk bed, the concern reaches beyond a loose part: slats supporting the top bunk can fail, allowing it to collapse onto the lower bunk. CPSC has received nine reports of slat failures, including three upper-bunk collapses. No injuries were reported.

The warning covers about 19,000 beds with a ladder and black, gray or white frames, measuring roughly 78 inches wide, 41.5 inches deep and 65 inches high. They were sold on Amazon, Abunda, eBay and Walmart’s websites from January 2019 through September 2026.

Stop using the affected bed immediately. CPSC directs owners to remove, replace and dispose of it, and not sell or give it away. This is a safety warning, rather than a recall offering a refund: the manufacturer has not responded to the agency’s recall request. Compare your bed with the warning’s photographs and description.

Take a Look in the Toy Bin and Nursery, Too

Several smaller items in the bulletin deserve a place on parents’ and grandparents’ checklists. They can be harder to identify once the packaging is gone, so the product photos linked below are particularly helpful.

GBYMIUY magnetic stick figures: These multicolored figures were sold in packs of 30 on Amazon from April through July 2026. The package shows “GBYMIUY” and X004TVHD2Z. Magnets in the hands and feet can come loose; swallowed magnets can attract each other inside the body and cause severe injuries. Take the toys away from children, stop use and contact the seller for a full refund. The magnetic-toy recall explains the disposal-photo requirement.

Squishy toys containing water beads: ABC Trading’s Squishy Dumplings, model 3655, and Crazy Squib Balls, model 3984, contain beads that can expand dangerously if swallowed. The dumplings have cartoon faces and come in steamer-shaped containers; the balls come wrapped in white netting. Stop use and follow the ABC Trading recall instructions to mark the toys, dispose of them and submit a photo for a refund.

A separate Mochi Malrang Mystery Dumpling recall covers translucent red dumpling toys sold at Easy Wholesale in San Jose, California, in July 2026. Families who bought one there should stop use and follow LLK Trading’s marking, disposal and photo instructions for a full refund.

Mbabyjon padded crib bumpers: CPSC warns that these bumpers can obstruct an infant’s breathing and should be removed from use and discarded, never sold or passed along. The photographed version has pink, black and white star patterns and pink ribbons, but other colors or patterns may have been sold. The seller has not responded to the agency’s request for a recall or remedy. The crib-bumper warning also reminds caregivers to use a firm, flat infant sleep surface with a fitted sheet only.

For Households Caring for an Older Adult

Bed rails are meant to offer support, which makes these alerts especially relevant for relatives and caregivers helping someone at home. Two recalls involve rails that can trap a person within the rail or between it and the mattress, creating a risk of fatal asphyxiation.

LandTale adult portable bed rails, SKU EBR001, have white frames and black foam grips. They were sold on Amazon from February through June 2026. Stop use and contact YunHeng for a full refund; the LandTale notice explains the required disassembly, marking and photo steps before disposal.

Agrish models 12014, AG-12011 and 12016 are included in an expanded recall covering about 35,083 rails, including approximately 5,000 previously recalled in January. These white rails have gray foam grips and also pose fall and cut hazards. Stop use and register with Agrish Direct for a full refund and disposal instructions through the Agrish recall page. Owners who checked the earlier recall should check again against the expanded model list.

A Living-Room Lamp and Rechargeable Hand Warmers

Cupcakes and Cashmere three-light floor lamps sold at HomeGoods from June 2025 through July 2026 are being recalled because their cords or internal wiring can smoke, melt, spark, overheat or ignite. Check the underside of the base for 7927-OZ or 7927-OZ1; the gold lamps have multicolored or cream glass shades. Eleven incidents included two shock and burn injuries. Turn the lamp off, unplug it and follow Designs Direct’s recall instructions for a full refund. Its process requires a photo of the disabled lamp; do not cut any cord while it is plugged in.

Before bringing rechargeable hand warmers out for a cool evening outdoors, check for Gobi Heat model UT3053 or HotHands model H163650 with a white HotHands logo. Both recalls involve batteries and electrical components that can overheat and ignite. Stop use and follow the Gobi Heat notice or HotHands notice for the applicable refund process and required photos. The HotHands alert applies to the specified rechargeable devices.

These recalled battery devices need special disposal. Do not put them in household trash, curbside recycling or retail battery-collection boxes. Call your local household hazardous-waste facility first to ask whether it accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries; if it does not, ask your municipality for guidance.

Two More Checks for Outdoor Gear

Owners of Urban Arrow Family, Shorty, Cargo L/XL or Tender 1000/1500 cargo e-bikes should compare their bikes with the Urban Arrow recall. A bolt in the seat-post clamp can break and loosen the seat. Affected seat posts have two silver bolts. Stop riding and contact Gazelle USA for a free replacement seat post and saddle, with free dealer installation available.

ZAREI portable camping shower kits sold through Amazon and Walmart’s websites from February through August 2026 are also recalled. Their immersion heaters can ignite when partly or entirely out of water. Stop use and contact Golden Resale for a full refund and prepaid return arrangements using the CPSC recall notice.

A Small Check That Can Help Another Household

Keep affected items out of donation boxes, hand-me-down bags and neighborhood garage sales. If you recognize something a relative or neighbor owns, sharing the specific notice gives them the model details, photographs and next steps in one place.

Before discarding a recalled item, read its remedy instructions: several companies require photographs or a claim number to process a refund. For the bunk beds and crib bumpers, follow CPSC’s immediate stop-use and disposal directions. Additional alerts are searchable at CPSC.gov, and unsafe-product incidents can be reported at SaferProducts.gov.
