Cheaters Creamery to Open First Brick-and-Mortar Location in Cypress

May 27 2024

Cheaters Creamery, known for its premium handcrafted ice creams, milkshakes, and doughboys, is set to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Cypress. The ice creamery, which first started doling out its sweet delights from a food truck in Houston in May 2021, is stepping up its game with its first physical establishment.

Their new home is a vibrantly designed, 1,575-square-foot suite located at 8828 Barker Cypress Road in Cypress. This prime location sits conveniently at the southeast corner of Barker Cypress and West Road, directly across from the Berry Center and Lone Star College-CyFair. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), construction of the Cypress store kicked off in mid-March. Initially, the project was set to complete by May 23, 2024.

Cheaters Creamery has built a reputation on the notion of indulging in a "cheat day." Their menu offers an impressive assortment of over 14 decadent, ultra-creamy flavors, drawing in a diverse crowd with flavors such as cinnamon churro, mango lassi, and coffee bean. In addition to ice cream scoops served in freshly made waffle cones, they offer hand-spun milkshakes and doughboys, a fun twist on the classic ice cream sandwich that sandwiches one scoop of ice cream between a warm powder sugared doughnut.

The brainchild of Adnan Baqui, Cheaters Creamery currently operates from a food truck park located on Washington Avenue in the Rice Military neighborhood, just outside of Downtown Houston. According to patron reviews on Yelp, the Cheaters Creamery has received consistently rave reviews for their quality and creaminess, with long lines of customers waiting for their sweet treats.

Per Baqui on X, their new home on Barker Cypress will soon welcome patrons. The establishment of the Cypress store marks a significant milestone in their journey, as it is their first permanent location in the Houston area.
