CFISD Marching Bands Win Contest Awards
CFISD marching bands earned numerous awards at recent competitions leading up to the Region 27 Marching Contest.
CFISD hosted the Cypress Showcase Marching Contest on Sept. 30 at Pridgeon Stadium. Bridgeland High School highlighted the competition by winning first place in Class V, followed by Jersey Village High School in second place. Bridgeland also won Best Percussion, Best Color Guard and Overall Grand Champion superlatives.
Cypress Springs High School placed first in Class IV, followed by runner-up Cypress Park High School. Cypress Creek High School placed fourth.
In Class III, Cypress Lakes High School placed second behind Angleton.
CFISD hosted the Battle at the Berry Marching Festival on Oct. 7 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium. Langham Creek High School won second place in Class IV behind Elkins High School. Cypress Springs placed third.
In Class III, Cypress Lakes placed third behind George Ranch and Randle high schools.
CFISD bands also performed well at neighboring competitions. Cy-Fair High School won the Bands of America Shenandoah Regional, held at Woodforest Stadium on Sept. 30, with a first place finals score of 81.000. Cypress Woods High School placed eighth with a score of 74.400.
Cy-Fair also won Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect at the competition.
At the Bands of America West Houston Katy Regional, held Oct. 7 at Legacy Stadium, Cy-Fair placed third overall behind The Woodlands and Reagan with a score of 83.800. Bridgeland placed fifth with a score of 81.900, and Cypress Woods placed ninth with a score of 77.950.
