Cavender’s Boot City Coming to Tomball in 2027, Bringing Western Boots, Apparel and Personalized Shopping Services

Tomball / Magnolia
October 12 2026

Tomball residents will soon have another place to shop for cowboy boots, Western apparel and workwear as Cavender’s Boot City prepares to open a new 15,000-square-foot store in The Grand at 249 at 25573 Tomball Parkway in 2027. The expansion will bring one of Texas' most recognizable Western retail brands to the growing community northwest of Houston, offering clothing and footwear for the entire family along with personalized services that have helped define the company for generations.

For Tomball and surrounding communities, including Magnolia, Spring and Cypress, the new Cavender’s location will offer another convenient shopping destination for everything from everyday work boots and denim to cowboy hats, rodeo attire and Western-inspired fashion. The store will also introduce additional retail activity along the Tomball Parkway corridor, an important commercial route serving northwest Harris County.

The announcement, made October 12, 2026, marks another chapter in the expansion of a family-founded Texas business that began with a single store more than six decades ago.

What Shoppers Can Expect at the New Cavender’s Boot City in Tomball

The upcoming Tomball Cavender’s Boot City will feature approximately 15,000 square feet of retail space dedicated to Western clothing, footwear and accessories for men, women and children.

Shoppers can expect a selection of handcrafted Western boots, cowboy hats, shirts, jeans, dresses, belts and Western accessories, as well as work boots and apparel designed for customers who need durable clothing and footwear for their jobs.

The store will carry nationally recognized Western brands, including Ariat, Wrangler and Resistol, alongside Cavender’s exclusive labels, Rockin’ C, Rafter C and JRC & Sons.

Beyond merchandise, the Tomball location will provide specialty services that distinguish traditional Western wear stores from general clothing retailers. Customers will have access to personalized boot fitting, cowboy hat shaping and boot stretching, helping them find the right fit and maintain their Western footwear and accessories.

For longtime Western wear enthusiasts, these services can be just as important as the products themselves. A properly fitted pair of boots or a custom-shaped cowboy hat is often considered a personal investment, whether it is being purchased for work, a special occasion or everyday use.

A Texas Family Business With More Than 60 Years of Western Heritage

While Cavender’s Boot City has become a familiar name across the country, its beginnings were rooted in a small East Texas community.

In 1965, James and Patricia "Pat" Cavender opened their first Western wear store in Pittsburg, Texas, building a business around their appreciation for cowboy culture, quality merchandise and personal customer service.

What began as one storefront eventually grew into a major Western retail chain, with more than 150 stores across more than 19 states.

The company's growth has remained closely connected to its Texas origins and the traditions that helped establish its reputation. From ranching and agricultural communities to suburban shopping centers, Cavender’s has expanded its reach while continuing to focus on Western boots, denim, hats and apparel.

Its merchandise reflects both the practical side of Western clothing and its place in Texas culture. Brands such as Ariat, Wrangler, Stetson and Resistol have longstanding connections to ranching, rodeo and Western fashion, while Cavender’s exclusive collections offer additional options for customers seeking traditional and contemporary styles.

The Cavender family's philosophy remains central to the company's identity.

"We will always remain true to who we are and what we stand for—the Western way of life," the family states.

That heritage is particularly relevant in Tomball, a community with deep agricultural and railroad roots that has maintained connections to its small-town Texas identity even as residential neighborhoods and commercial development have expanded throughout the area.

Cavender’s Joins Growing Lineup at The Grand at 249 in Tomball

Cavender’s Boot City will be part of The Grand at 249, a major shopping and dining development taking shape near the intersection of Tomball Parkway and the Grand Parkway (SH 99). Developed by Houston-based NewQuest Properties, the project represents an approximately $90 million investment in the Tomball area, with plans for roughly 450,000 square feet of retail space.

The development has been steadily coming together, with several restaurants and businesses already welcoming customers. Portillo’s, Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen, Bojangles, Smalls Sliders, Black Bear Diner, Jersey Mike’s and Starbucks are among the businesses that have opened, giving Tomball-area residents more places to grab a meal, meet friends or make a quick stop while running errands.

And there is much more on the way. Construction is underway on additional retail buildings, with plans to bring well-known names such as Dick’s Sporting Goods, Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, Petco, Sephora, Bath & Body Works and Dollar Tree to the center. A Sam’s Club is also part of the development, along with additional restaurant and retail spaces. NewQuest has targeted 2027 for the next wave of major store openings, although individual opening dates may vary.

For residents of Tomball, Magnolia, Cypress and Spring, the growing center means more shopping and dining options closer to home. The addition of Cavender’s brings something different to the mix, with Western boots, workwear, cowboy hats and specialty fitting services that reflect the area's longstanding ties to Texas ranching, rodeo and Western traditions.

As construction continues and more storefronts open, The Grand at 249 is gradually becoming a significant shopping destination for northwest Houston, with Cavender’s set to join the growing lineup in 2027.
