Burger Bodega Expands to Katy with New Location Opening in 2025
Burger Bodega, a popular Houston-based burger joint, is expanding to Katy, with a new location set to open in early 2025. The new restaurant will be located at 21904 Franz Road, Katy, TX 77449, situated at the northwest corner of Franz Road and Mason Road. The 3,000-square-foot space will mark the second brick-and-mortar location for the fast-casual eatery, following the success of its original Houston store.
Construction for the Katy location is slated to begin in early January 2025, with an expected completion date in early April, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). This new establishment will provide the same signature burgers and fast-food offerings that have made Burger Bodega a local favorite in Houston.
A Passion for Burgers and Community
Founded by Abbas Dhanani, the man behind the popular Instagram account @houstoneatz, Burger Bodega was born from a passion for showcasing Houston's diverse culinary scene. In 2011, Dhanani started @houstoneatz to highlight the chefs and restaurants of Houston, using the platform to share his love for food with a growing online community. Over the years, his passion for discovering delicious, locally-made meals led him to a new dream: opening his own burger restaurant.

After years of refining recipes and experimenting with different burger concepts, Dhanani launched Burger Bodega in 2021 as a pop-up concept. Throughout that year, he hosted over 22 pop-up events across Houston, gaining a loyal following and generating buzz. In the fall of 2022, Burger Bodega officially opened its first permanent location at 4520 Washington Avenue in Houston.
In a heartfelt Instagram post from December 2022, Dhanani shared his gratitude for the support of the Houston community, reflecting on how his journey from pop-up to brick-and-mortar location had come to fruition. “The industry welcomed me with open arms, and I am forever grateful,” he wrote.
Signature Menu Offers Bold, Flavorful Options
The menu at Burger Bodega is known for its bold and flavorful burgers, including the standout Smash Burger, which is offered in single, double, and triple patty options. The Smash Burger features American cheese, grilled onions, housemade pickles, and a signature Bodega sauce, all sandwiched between a soft potato bun. For those seeking a more unique option, the Chopped Cheese combines two chopped beef patties with American cheese, onions, bell peppers, and "shrettuce" (shredded lettuce), served on a hero roll. A spicy version and an Impossible patty for plant-based eaters are also available.
Burger Bodega also offers a variety of add-ons like spicy mayo, Harlem aioli, jalapeños, and beef bacon, allowing customers to customize their burgers to suit their tastes. In addition to burgers, the restaurant features sides like crispy Fries, Screwed Fries topped with cheese sauce and onions, and Chopped Fries loaded with chopped beef, cheese sauce, and veggies. To complement the meal, customers can enjoy a selection of refreshing drinks, including sodas, mango lassi, iced tea, and lemonade, as well as indulgent milkshakes in flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and Vietnamese coffee.
