Bridgeland HS Students Place at Educators Rising National Conference
Five Bridgeland High School students earned national awards at the 2023 Educators Rising National Conference, held June 29-July 2 in Orlando, Florida.
The conference, which includes Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) students, invites future educators and current teachers to connect and network with others, hear from national education leaders and participate in competitive events designed to allow students to develop and showcase their skills.
CFISD was represented at the conference by students from Bridgeland, Cy-Fair and Jersey Village high schools. Bridgeland seniors Allison Barstow, Avery Owens and Lauren Womack earned second place for their project that highlighted learning challenges students with anxiety face and how teachers can better assist those students. Bridgeland sophomores Ella Simmons and Victoria Mitchell earned third place for a children’s literature book they illustrated and wrote in Braille to help promote inclusion with all students in the classroom.
“I am so proud of all our TAFE Bridgeland students that participated in this year’s national conference,” Stacy Morgan, Bridgeland TAFE sponsor, said. “What a great experience it was for them to earn such prestigious awards for projects they are passionate about. I am not just proud of them for having stellar projects, but I am proud of who they are as individuals, their hard work, passion and future educators they might be one day.”
