Winning a district championship is a milestone for any high school athletic program. Winning year after year, through graduating seniors, new teammates and changing competition, takes something more. At Bridgeland High School in Cypress, that consistency has become a defining part of the Bears' cross country program.

Both the boys' and girls' teams added another chapter to that history on October 16, 2026, sweeping the District 23-6A Cross Country Championships at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. The boys captured their eighth consecutive district team title, while the girls extended their streak to nine straight championships.

For Bridgeland families, students and supporters, the results are another reason to celebrate a program that has continued to find success across multiple graduating classes. This year's championships also brought impressive individual finishes, including a first-place performance from senior Mark Jeffrey and six Bridgeland girls placing among the top 10 runners.

Bridgeland Girls Capture Ninth Consecutive District Cross Country Championship

The Bridgeland girls delivered one of the day's most commanding team performances, earning just 20 points to secure the District 23-6A championship.

In cross country, the lowest team score wins, with points awarded according to runners' finishing positions. Bridgeland's 20-point total reflected how closely its top runners finished together.

Cypress Ranch High School placed second with 83 points, followed by George Ranch High School in third with 92.

Six Bridgeland runners finished among the top 10, led by senior Abigail Seale, who crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 17:51.07.

Senior Brynlee Weston followed in third place at 18:01.50, while senior Kate Garrison finished fourth in 19:02.38.

Two freshmen also made their mark in the championship race. Zoe Jaswani placed fifth with a time of 19:06.39, and Lorna Paul finished sixth in 19:14.82. Senior Carleigh Conger completed Bridgeland's top-10 group with an eighth-place finish in 19:28.33.

The combination of experienced seniors and younger runners was particularly noteworthy. Three seniors finished among the top four, while two freshmen placed in the top six, giving Bridgeland both established leadership and promising young talent.

Cypress Ranch freshman Renee Warren won the individual girls' district championship with a time of 17:49.05, narrowly finishing ahead of Seale.

The ninth consecutive team championship continues a winning tradition that has carried Bridgeland's girls cross country program through nearly a decade of district competition.

Bridgeland Boys Win Eighth Straight District Title Behind Mark Jeffrey

The Bridgeland boys had plenty to celebrate as well, claiming their eighth consecutive District 23-6A team championship with 26 points.

Foster High School finished second with 68 points, while Cypress Ranch took third with 83.

Senior Mark Jeffrey led the Bears with a first-place finish, winning the individual district championship in 15:18.16.

Junior Luke Willows followed in third place with a time of 15:38.52, while junior Braxton Ramirez finished fifth in 15:42.71.

Senior Angelo Mancini placed eighth at 15:55.60, and junior Cale Huff finished ninth in 16:02.67.

With five runners among the top 10, Bridgeland demonstrated the depth that has helped sustain its district championship streak.

The individual results also highlighted the contributions of runners from multiple grade levels. Seniors Jeffrey and Mancini helped lead the effort, while juniors Willows, Ramirez and Huff contributed finishes that secured another team championship.

For younger athletes watching the program, the results offer a glimpse of the standards established by the runners who came before them and the opportunities ahead.

A Championship Tradition That Continues to Grow in Cypress

Bridgeland's latest district sweep is about more than two trophies.

High school cross country is a sport that requires months of preparation, with athletes training for races where seconds can separate competitors and team championships often depend on how well runners perform together.

The Bears' eight-year boys' championship streak and nine-year girls' streak reflect a program that has maintained competitive success even as its roster changes from season to season.

That continuity is especially meaningful for the Bridgeland community, where families have watched the school's athletic traditions develop over the years.

This year's results also illustrate why cross country is as much a team sport as an individual one. While Jeffrey claimed an individual championship and several Bridgeland runners earned podium finishes, the team's success depended on strong performances throughout the lineup.

What's Next for Bridgeland Cross Country?

The District 23-6A championships determined which teams and individual runners would advance to regional competition.

Under the qualifying format, the top three teams and 10 individuals in each race earned opportunities to compete at the next level.

The 2026 Region III-7A Cross Country Championships were scheduled for October 26 at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville, with the Region II-6A Championships scheduled the same day at Rolling Hills Soccer Complex in Fort Worth.

According to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, the 2026 regional competitions marked the first time in district history that runners from all 12 CFISD high schools were represented at the regional level.

Bridgeland's boys and girls entered the next stage of competition with another pair of district titles and a long-standing tradition of success behind them.

For the Bridgeland community, the latest sweep offers another opportunity to recognize the dedication of student-athletes who represent their school through early training sessions, demanding races and the shared goal of helping their teammates succeed.
