Bridgeland, Cy Creek, Cy Ranch Repeat as District Water Polo Champions

The District 16-6A and District 17-6A water polo seasons ended on Oct. 6 with 16 CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs. 

Bridgeland High School won a second consecutive girls’ District 16-6A championship with a 10-0 record in district play. Cypress Ranch High School finished two games behind to claim the second seed, while Langham Creek High School went 6-4 in league play to earn the third seed. 

Cypress Lakes High School went 4-6 in district play to finish fourth.  

Cypress Lakes High School freshman Melanie Rivera and the Spartans earned the fourth seed in District 16-6A. They will open the postseason against Stratford on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
 
The following 16-6A girls’ teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:  
  • Bridgeland received a bye. 
  • Cypress Ranch received a bye.  
  • Langham Creek will meet Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School on Monday, Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium (12550 Windfern Road). 
  • Cypress Lakes will face Stratford on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.  

Cypress Ranch repeated as the boys’ 16-6A champion after posting a 10-0 record in district play. Bridgeland and Cypress Springs High School both finished with identical 7-3 marks in league play, with the Bears earning the second seed and the Panthers earning the third seed. Langham Creek went 4-6 in district play to finish fourth. 

The Cypress Ranch High School boys’ water polo team won the District 16-6A Championship with a 10-0 record in league play. The Mustangs are the top seed heading into the postseason and receive a bi-district bye. 
 
The following 16-6A boys’ teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:  
  • Cypress Ranch received a bye.  
  • Bridgeland will face Stratford on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Cypress Springs will meet Memorial on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Branch ISD Natatorium (10404 Tiger Trail). 
  • Langham Creek will face Strake Jesuit on Monday, Oct 9 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 

Cypress Creek High School won the girls’ District 17-6A championship for a second consecutive season with a 10-0 record in league play. Jersey Village High School  and Cy-Fair High School both finished with identical 7-3 marks in district play, with the Bobcats earning the second seed and the Falcons earning the third seed. Cypress Woods High School went 4-6 in league play to earn the fourth seed. 

Jersey Village High School junior Nico Duncan and the Falcons earned the second seed in District 17-6A after posting an 8-2 record in league play. They will face Fort Bend Clements on Monday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
 
The following 17-6A girls’ teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:  
  • Cypress Creek will face Fort Bend Clements on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Cy-Fair will meet Fort Bend Kempner on Monday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Jersey Village will place Fort Bend Austin on Monday, Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Cypress Woods will face Fort Bend Travis on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 

Cypress Creek repeated as the boys’ 17-6A champions after posting a 10-0 in league play. Jersey Village finished two games behind to earn the second seed and Cy-Fair went 6-4 to earn the third seed. 

Cypress Woods finished 4-6 in district play to earn the fourth seed. 

The following 17-6A boys’ teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups: 

  • Cypress Creek was meet Fort Bend Dulles on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Jersey Village will face Fort Bend Clements on Monday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 
  • Cy-Fair will meet Fort Bend Elkins on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. at Fort Bend ISD’s Don Cook Natatorium (16255 Lexington Blvd) in Sugar Land. 
  • Cypress Woods will face Fort Bend Travis on Tuesday, Oct 10 at 7 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium. 

Tickets are $5 each for adults and students. Links for games to be played at the CFISD Natatorium can be found on the CFISD Athletics website’s Tickets Page utilizing the Aquatics button. Separate ticket links are available for playoff games Monday, Oct. 9and Tuesday, Oct. 10.
