Braids of Katy Expands to New Location, Strengthening Community and Empowering Clients

February 14 2025

When Braids of Katy first opened in 2021, co-owner Marneisha Walker and her team knew they were offering more than just hair services—they were creating a space where people could feel confident, valued, and empowered. Now, after just a few years in business, Braids of Katy has officially moved to a larger location at 19730 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094, continuing its mission to provide high-quality hair care to the  growing Katy community.

“We chose Katy for its diversity and warmth,” said Marneisha, reflecting on the salon’s growth. “It’s a place where people truly care about quality, and they deserve a salon that makes them feel good about themselves. This new space gives us more room to grow and serve our clients better.”

Braids of Katy is known for its skilled braiding, locs, twists, and protective styles. However, it’s the salon’s deep-rooted commitment to personalized care and community that sets it apart. “We’ve created a welcoming environment where people can come in and feel like family,” said Marneisha. “It’s not just about braids, it’s about building lasting relationships with the people who walk through our doors.”

For Marneisha, a licensed cosmetologist with over 13 years of experience, this new chapter is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. “Opening Braids of Katy has been a dream come true. I’ve always believed in creating a positive and supportive environment for my clients and stylists. This move to our new facility is just the beginning of what we want to achieve,” she shared.

The salon’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on February 12, 2025, was not just a celebration of the new location—it was a reflection of Braids of Katy’s growing presence in the Katy community. Joined by the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, the event was attended by local business owners, friends, and family, all coming together to celebrate the salon’s success.

“The Chamber of Commerce has been such a great partner in helping us connect with other local businesses,” said Marneisha. “Joining the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce is a natural next step. We want to expand our network and collaborate with others who share our passion for supporting the community.”

Adrienne Davitz, Vice President of Membership and Community Relations for the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, was enthusiastic in her support of Braids of Katy. “We’re thrilled to have Braids of Katy as part of the Chamber,” said Davitz. “Their dedication to providing high-quality service and giving back to the community aligns with the values of our business network. We’re excited to see their continued growth and success.”

In addition to offering top-notch braiding services, Braids of Katy is dedicated to giving back. The team actively participates in community initiatives, such as their back-to-school events where backpacks filled with supplies are donated to local students. Marneisha emphasized the importance of supporting those around them. “We’re more than just a salon—we’re a part of the fabric of this community,” she said. “Whether it’s providing free hairstyles for children in foster care or helping kids get the supplies they need for school, we believe in lifting others up.”

As the salon continues to grow, the team is excited for what lies ahead. “We’re not just looking to grow in size, we’re looking to grow in impact,” Marneisha shared. “Our goal is to help people feel confident, both inside and out. We’re here to create a space where everyone can feel beautiful and supported.”

The new Braids of Katy location is ready to welcome clients old and new, and Marneisha and her team are eager to continue offering personalized care in an inviting, supportive environment. “It’s about more than just a hairstyle—it’s about helping people feel empowered and beautiful,” said Marneisha. “We’re proud of where we are, and we’re excited about where we’re headed.”
