Bexar County New Year’s Eve Fireworks Safety: Burn Ban Remains in Effect Through February

Bexar County New Year’s Eve Fireworks Safety: Burn Ban Remains in Effect Through February

December 25 2025

As of December 25, 2025, Bexar County remains under an active countywide burn ban, effective through February 9, 2026, due to ongoing dry conditions. With New Year’s Eve approaching, county leaders and fire officials are reminding Villas at Luckey Ranch residents that fireworks and outdoor burning pose an elevated wildfire risk across unincorporated areas.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fireworks are a leading cause of holiday-related fires nationwide, particularly during dry winter conditions when vegetation can ignite quickly. Even a single spark can spread faster than expected, especially during windy conditions common in South Texas.

Residents are encouraged to avoid personal fireworks displays and instead attend permitted public events or choose safer celebrations at home. Outdoor cooking in contained BBQ pits is generally allowed under burn bans, but grills should never be left unattended.

It’s also important for residents to remember that HOA rules and city ordinances may be stricter than county regulations. If fireworks are being considered for future celebrations when a burn ban is not in effect, Villas at Luckey Ranch residents should review their governing documents and confirm whether fireworks are allowed in their neighborhood.

Local officials continue to ask residents to stay alert, follow burn ban rules, and help protect first responders by preventing unnecessary fire calls this New Year’s Eve.
