Bexar County Burn Ban Extended Through February 9, 2026

Bexar County Burn Ban Extended Through February 9, 2026

January 15 2026

With winter bringing dry and windy conditions, Bexar County officials have extended a formal burn ban through February 9, 2026, for all unincorporated areas. That includes neighborhoods like Villas at Luckey Ranch, where outdoor burning of any kind is currently prohibited.

The burn ban is a preventative measure aimed at reducing the risk of wildfires, which can spread quickly in the dry winter air. Prohibited activities include burning brush, trash, or conducting controlled burns without special approval. Even small fire pits and campfires may be restricted under certain conditions.

County officials urge residents to take precautions when grilling or using outdoor equipment that may produce sparks. Keeping a water source nearby and never leaving flames unattended are key safety practices. Local fire departments are on high alert and will respond to violations.

Winter burn bans aren’t uncommon in Central and South Texas, where rainfall can be scarce. In past years, wildfires have caused significant damage to rural properties, and officials say being proactive is essential to community safety.

Violating the burn ban may result in fines and legal consequences. Residents are encouraged to report illegal burning to Bexar County officials if observed.
