What started as a dream home search ended with a surprise $20,000 win for Jessica and Roger Leavitt—new homeowners and early residents in one of Fort Bend County’s most ambitious new master-planned communities, Austin Point.
“We were already under contract with David Weekley Homes when we walked into the event,” shared Jessica Leavitt. “So when they called our name as the $20,000 giveaway winners, we were stunned. I was jumping up and down, and Roger asked me, ‘Are you sure they said my name?’ It was such a surprise.”
Originally from southern Utah, the Leavitts’ journey to Austin Point, located just outside Richmond and Rosenberg, Texas, spanned multiple states and a pandemic. After living in Houston previously, they spent four years back in Utah before returning to Texas in 2024 for Roger’s job. From there, the home search began—but not without its challenges.
“We looked at homes for over a year, but nothing clicked,” Roger said. “Then we toured the David Weekley model at Austin Point. It was the first model open, and we both immediately felt at home.”
The couple—who had previously owned a David Weekley home—opted for the Lilac floor plan: a spacious three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath layout with a three-car garage on a corner lot. With their youngest child nearing graduation and their two older children living out of state, the home offers the right fit for their next chapter as near-empty nesters.

“It’s our first new construction home,” Roger added. “And honestly, I was a little nervous about picking everything out, so having a home already beautifully finished was kind of perfect.”
As part of Austin Point’s inaugural group of buyers, the Leavitts also received an early incentive package including appliances, window blinds, and high-end finishes. Winning the $20,000 giveaway just added to the excitement.
“The house was already built and spec’d out, but now that we’ve won this giveaway, we have even more flexibility to pick out décor and furnish it the way we want,” said Jessica.
But beyond the home itself, the couple was drawn to what Austin Point represents—a thoughtfully designed, walkable community with variety and long-term vision.
“What stood out to us here was the diversity of builders, home styles, and square footages all blended together in one neighborhood,” said Roger. “It doesn’t feel cookie-cutter. It feels like a real community.”
Jessica agreed, adding, “Even just visiting for the Open House, we noticed the landscaping and green spaces were already so beautiful, and everything felt well thought out.”

Austin Point is the largest new community in Fort Bend County in over 40 years, a 4,700-acre master-planned development that will eventually include 10,000 homes, 17 million square feet of commercial space, onsite schools, and 1,000 acres of preserved green space. Phase 1 includes 421 homes and 12 model homes, with nine reputable builders offering a wide range of home sizes and styles, from 1,300 to 4,500 square feet.
Early buyers like the Leavitts are already enjoying the lifestyle Austin Point aims to create—front porch living, bikeable and walkable trails, and community amenities including The 1824, a vibrant hub with a wine bar, food truck court, kids' play areas, and event lawns. Although Phase 1 won’t feature a swimming pool, future phases will expand amenities and recreational offerings.
“The road access is still growing, but we can already see how the transit improvements like the Fort Bend Tollway will make a huge difference,” said Roger. “You have to forward-project a little, but the potential here is enormous.”
For the Leavitts, that vision is exactly what drew them in—and made them feel part of something bigger.
“Come take a look for yourself,” Jessica encouraged. “If you can see what’s coming, and what’s already here, then you’ll understand why we’re so excited. We’re not just buying a home. We’re buying into a community that’s growing and evolving, and we’re glad to be part of that journey from the beginning.”
Congratulations to the Leavitts, and welcome home to Austin Point.
