Atascosa County Burn Ban Continues Into New Year’s Eve
Atascosa County remains under an extended countywide burn ban, originally enacted earlier in the year and maintained due to persistent drought conditions. Officials say fire danger remains elevated across the region.
The NFPA identifies fireworks as a preventable cause of holiday fires, particularly in dry environments where embers can travel and ignite surrounding vegetation.
Residents are encouraged to avoid fireworks altogether and instead attend organized displays where permitted or celebrate indoors. Even small fireworks can trigger brush fires that spread quickly.
Before considering the use of fireworks in the future, when a burn ban is not in effect, Rosewood Atascosa Estates residents should confirm whether they are allowed by HOA rules or city regulations, which may prohibit fireworks even when county rules differ.
Officials continue to stress that community-wide safety depends on individual responsibility as the county welcomes the new year.
