Black Rifle Coffee Company Abruptly Closes Copperfield Location

January 13 2025

Black Rifle Coffee Company, a popular veteran-founded coffee chain known for its patriotic branding and support for military personnel, appears to have unexpectedly closed its Copperfield location at 7086 Highway 6, Houston, TX 77095. The sudden closure has left local customers surprised and searching for answers.

Originally opened in February 2022, the Copperfield outpost served as a vibrant community hub for coffee lovers and military supporters alike. The menu included a variety of offerings, from classic coffee drinks like lattes and Americanos to specialty items such as the Horchata Latte and Jet Fuel Latte. Non-coffee drinkers could enjoy teas like Chai Tea Lattes and Matcha Tea Lattes, while food options ranged from bacon ciabatta sandwiches to seasonal treats like pumpkin cream cheese muffins.

Despite the brand’s strong cultural resonance and dedication to high-quality coffee, the sudden shuttering of this location comes amid broader challenges for Black Rifle Coffee Company. According to BRC Inc.'s third-quarter 2024 financial report, revenue from its coffee shops, referred to as "Outposts," decreased by 11.4%, dropping from $6.2 million in Q3 2023 to $5.5 million in Q3 2024. The report’s findings suggest that the company may be facing financial pressures that contributed to decisions like the closure of the Copperfield location.

Founded in 2014 by former U.S. Army Green Beret Evan Hafer, Black Rifle Coffee Company built its reputation on crafting “explosive roast profiles” inspired by military precision and discipline. The brand’s mission extends beyond coffee, as it is deeply committed to supporting veterans, active-duty military personnel, and first responders. Hafer’s vision also includes ambitious goals, such as hiring 10,000 veterans and assisting service members transitioning to entrepreneurship.

This mission, paired with an extensive menu, made the Copperfield location a notable destination. Offerings included Nitro Cold Brew, Frozen Salted Caramel Lattes, and savory options like sausage kolaches and jalapeño biscuit sandwiches. Regulars often praised the community-driven atmosphere and unique beverage selection.

While no official statement has been released regarding the Copperfield closure, the broader decline in revenue raises questions about the viability of individual locations. The company’s commitment to its mission and its robust fan base will likely play a role in determining its future.

For now, fans of Black Rifle Coffee Company in Houston may need to turn to other locations or the brand’s online store to satisfy their caffeine cravings. The closure of the Copperfield location is a poignant reminder of the challenges even beloved brands can face in an unpredictable economic landscape.
