Cy-Fair Women’s Club Shatters Records: 35 Scholarships Awarded to Inspire Future Leaders

May 03 2024

On May 2, 2024, the Cy-Fair Women’s Club (CWC) celebrated an important milestone in their philanthropic journey by awarding 35 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Each student received a $1,000 grant, with a notable increase from the usual 20 scholarships awarded annually. The CWC has been committed to uplifting their community since 1982, and this year’s scholarships reflect a significant expansion of their efforts.

Funds for these scholarships were raised during their annual shopping extravaganza, Shop 'til You Drop, held at the Berry Center in September of last year. Additional support was provided by the club's benevolent sponsors. Over the years, the CWC has awarded more than 200 scholarships amounting to over $200,000.

During the ceremony, Maida Guillen with Commissioner Lesley Briones' office and Dannie Raper with Commissioner Tom Ramsey's office presented official certificates of recognition to each recipient as signs of support from Harris County Precinct 4 and Harris County Precinct 3, respectively.
