Registering Your Pet with the City of Katy
If you're a pet owner in the City of Katy, it's essential to register your furry friend according to the Katy Code of Ordinances. There are two significant reasons why pet registration is required.
First, registering your pet ensures that your contact information is up-to-date in case your pet ever goes missing. Not knowing where a member of your family is can be a traumatic experience, and registering your pet helps avoid such situations.
Secondly, proof of vaccination is required by the State of Texas. Ensuring your pet's vaccinations are up-to-date is crucial for their health and the safety of those around them.
Here's how to license your pet:
- Leave $2.00 and proof of a valid rabies vaccination (you can get a certificate from your vet's office) under your doormat.

The City of Katy will fill out all the necessary paperwork and, before the end of the day, leave the following at your door:
- Original vaccination certificate
- Money receipt
- Your pet's license and tag
